Pros

Exceptionally clean, articulate and deeply extended bass, with clearly defined texture on music and visceral yet controlled cinema impact.

Integrates with main speakers transparently, supporting expansive soundstaging without calling attention to itself.

Extensive control options include app-based PEQ presets, crossover settings, phase, polarity, input selection and test tones.

Cons

Premium pricing places it firmly in the high-end subwoofer category.

It is not designed to deliver the extreme infrasonic output around 12Hz sought by some home-theatre enthusiasts.

What Reviewers Are Saying

"This is the subwoofer that every sub wants to be when it grows up."

— Audioholics

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Bass

96/100

Audioholics heard exceptionally clean, deeply extended bass with every note clearly defined and textured. The review describes its articulation and musical involvement as unprecedented, while calling the D212s the finest subwoofer to enter the review environment.

Integration

94/100

The reviewer calls the subwoofers totally transparent and says the main speakers disappeared into an expansive soundstage. Bass is described as clean and even rather than obtrusive, helping it support the system without drawing attention to itself.

Dynamics

92/100

Engine effects were reproduced with room-filling scale, authority and control, rather than blur or strain. The reviewer also describes bass that can be felt throughout the room while remaining articulate.

Build Quality

87/100

The review highlights the dual-driver push-pull arrangement, including a carbon-fiber woofer and an opposing driver intended to reduce cabinet vibration. This engineering is credited with supporting the subwoofer's linear, clean output, though there is little discussion of finish quality or long-term durability.

Features Usability

96/100

Audioholics calls the control provision the most flexible it has encountered on a subwoofer. The app provides input and trigger selection, status monitoring and test tones, alongside three PEQ presets, adjustable crossover slopes, variable phase and polarity controls.

Value for Money

85/100

At roughly $7,000 to $8,795, the D212s is positioned firmly in the premium subwoofer market. The review offers emphatic praise for its performance and flexibility, but does not directly compare its value against similarly priced alternatives.
