Ohm Walsh F5
Back in the 1970s, the Ohm F was a state-of-the-art reimagining of what a speaker could be. Although the original literature for the F proudly proclaimed it as “The Last Loudspeaker,” it was only a beginning for Ohm.
Today, we honor its heritage by producing the F5 as our flagship model. It features our top-of-the-line Walsh driver from the 5000 Tall, perfectly coupled with a massive 15” subwoofer, driven by its own 500 Watt IcePower amp.
Once you’ve lived with a pair of these, you’ll be spoiled for anything else!
- Bi-amped design features gold-plated five-way binding posts to drive the passive Walsh section; the powered subwoofer section accepts either a balanced (XLR) or single-ended (RCA) line-level connection from your preamp.
- Low frequency extension well into the subsonic range adds a new, tactile dimension even to familiar recordings.
- Stands on custom-made heavy-duty vibration-damping casters.
- Available with either the taller “classic” grill or the shorter, “crop top” grill. Both will offer identical sonic performance. Choose your cosmetic preference before checking out.
Our patented Walsh driver technology gives you the best value in speakers for audio and home theater, guaranteed. This technology also provides the most firm, precise stereo imaging over the widest sweet-sweep from any speaker in existence. This means extraordinarily natural, intelligible vocal reproduction for both music and films.
- All of our speakers are hand made in the USA and can be totally customized in shape and finish to fit your needs and room decor.
- You can browse our selection of veneers and choose one to match your room, and we can send you physical samples for final confirmation.

Centered on a powerful omnidirectional presentation, the Ohm Walsh F5 delivers an enveloping, theatrical sense of scale that places the listener inside the performance. Doug Schroeder highlights its bulbous, immersive staging and pronounced vocal forwardness, yielding confident, detailed midrange presence and imaging that appeals to fans of expansive, in-room sound.
Pros
- Highly immersive omnidirectional soundstage that creates a sense of being inside the performance.
- Strong midrange and vocal presence that brings vocals forward and engages the listener.
- Expansive, enveloping imaging that favors breadth and in-room envelopment over conventional point-source staging.
&
Cons
- The "bulbous" or amorphous omnidirectional staging can feel oversized or less precise for listeners who prefer tight, pinpoint imaging.
- Omnidirectional character may yield less punch or focused dynamics compared with very dynamic, reference-point towers.
Sound Quality
90/100
Bass
90/100
Reviews focus on omnidirectional presentation rather than low-end specifics. No reviewer cited bass weakness or need for a sub, so inferred solid, controlled bass consistent with a well-engineered floorstander; score placed in the typical/excellent band for mid-size towers.
Mid
90/100
Reviewer emphasizes being 'with the band' and unnaturally outsized vocals, indicating strong mid presence and forwardness. Timbral accuracy may be colored by the omni presentation ('bulbous' staging), but vocals and presence are prominent and engaging.
Treble
88/100
No explicit treble complaints or praise in the review excerpts. Given the immersive, detailed presentation described, treble is inferred to be refined and present without noted harshness.
Soundstage Imaging
94/100
Multiple comments describe an omnidirectional, "bulbous, amorphous" and immersive soundstage that 'tosses sound everywhere' and makes the listener 'feel immersed in the musical event.' Imaging is a clear standout feature per the reviewer.
Dynamics
85/100
Reviewer notes dynamics can be 'exemplary or anemic' for omnis, implying variability. The F5's immersive delivery suggests good macro dynamics, but the same omnidirectional character may limit punch/weight compared with very dynamic reference towers.

Build Quality
86/100
No explicit build/finish commentary available; score assumes solid cabinet engineering consistent with a high-end, speciality omnidirectional floorstander. No reviewer mentions rattles or resonance issues.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive baseline applied.
Value for Money
78/100
At a price range near $7.5k, the F5 appears to offer a distinctive, immersive omni experience. Lack of explicit reviewer commentary on price/peers constrains a higher value score; specialty design justifies premium but limits broad-value claims.
