NAD CI 16-60 DSP Multi channel network amplifier

The CI 16-60 is a versatile and economical option for a distributed audio system, that doesn’t compromise on quality. Offering 8 zones of the same Class D, Hybrid Digital amplification found in our Class Series NAD stereo products, and with parametric EQ for fine tuning each zone, the CI i16-60 is a great starting place for centralized multi-room audio.

Full Disclosure Power

The CI 16-60 DSP offers NAD’s world-renowned sonic performance at an unrivalled price per zone. As per NAD’s Full Disclosure Power (FDP) ratings, it’s capable of delivering a conservative 60 watts per channel at 8 ohms into all channels simultaneously, so no need to worry about a lack of power, or the amplifier becoming strained, when all zones are active in a multi-room system. The CI 16-60 DSP is also bridgeable to 140 watts per channel, and offers the necessary flexibility to handle most scenarios while remaining on budget.

Hybrid Digital Amplification

The CI 16-60 DSP uses a customized version of the proven Hypex UcD output stage to deliver great load invariant power with extremely low distortion and noise floor. Every detail of this design has been carefully executed to bring out the best possible performance. Meticulously designed and built to deal with the demands of the custom installation market, the robust nature of Hybrid Digital amplification makes it ideal for installations, having a high current output and being load invariant, it handles 4ohm loads as easily as it does 8ohm and can effortlessly handle long cable runs and difficult speaker loads.

Whether listening to background music at lower volumes or turning it up, NAD delivers a consistent, linear sound, which is clear, detailed and dynamic at all volume levels.

Rack Space Efficiency and Reliability

NAD is keenly aware that reliability is paramount for a professional installer so all models will be based on tried and true amplification platforms delivering stable and reliable performance, and since rack real estate is always at a premium NAD CI amps have been designed to take up as little as possible. Thermostatic fans draw in cool air from the front of the unit and out through the rear vents, meaning you don’t need to leave ventilation gaps between each unit for it to stay cool.

Web UI/DSP

The CI 16-60 is network ready for simple set up, via the custom WebUI. Updated from 2025, the new interface still allows fast set up, of inputs & outputs, setting gain, stereo/mono and bridging of channels, with new clearer layout, creation of DSP profiles using the 5 band Parametric EQ, plus high and low pass filters to allow the dialing in of the audio in each zone and optimize performance. In addition is a new Dashboard, providing a live read out of the units status, improved power management settings with faster bootup time, user password protection and new DSP functions, including limiters, phase and delay.  I/O switching and routing can also be managed via compatible control systems with drivers available for Crestron, Control4, Elan & RTI.

System Suggestion

Combine the CI 16-60 DSP with the CI 580 V2 4 zone BluOS rack mount streamer or the Bluesound NODE to create a complete hi res multi-room package of incredible value and quality.

“Once again, NAD has pulled off a clever balancing act regarding price, performance and features with the new CI 16-60 DSP. Perhaps even more impressively, it satisfies the needs and desires of the seasoned installer and critical listener. The former will appreciate the robustness that allows superior performance in all rooms regardless of cable length, and the IP access to key setup parameters and remote troubleshooting to save time and money.” – Stereonet

NAD CI 16-60 DSP

The NAD CI 16-60 DSP is a compact, rack‑ready multi‑channel amplifier that blends transparent, dynamic multi‑channel sound with installer-focused DSP and IP control. In a review by Cris Martinez for StereoNET United Kingdom, the amp is praised for effortless dynamics, exceptional resolution at low and high levels, and an opened-up soundstage once room EQ is applied. Hypex UcD‑based amplification provides reliable headroom and bridgeable pairs for higher output, while robust block connectors (accepting up to 10 AWG) and tolerant long-run performance suit custom installations. The web UI supports remote setup, tuning and troubleshooting, saving installers time and letting listeners fine‑tune tonal balance. Compact, well‑built and feature-rich, the CI 16-60 DSP offers pro‑grade performance and configurable room correction for demanding multi‑zone and custom systems.

StereoNET United Kingdom

"Compared to Russound, Nuvo, and other similarly priced CI amplifiers, NAD obliterates them as a middleweight would a lightweight."

Pros

  • Highly transparent, involving sound with exceptional resolution and effortless dynamics across low and high listening levels.
  • Integrated DSP and IP‑controlled web UI enable effective room correction, improved soundstage and remote troubleshooting—valuable for installers and complex installs.
  • Robust build and connectivity: Hypex UcD amplification, bridgeable channel pairs and heavy‑gauge block connectors that tolerate long cable runs without audible distortion.

&

Cons

  • Some programmes/speaker pairings showed slight upper mid‑bass resonance or bloat prior to DSP correction.
  • Parametric EQ controls in the web UI can be less responsive and somewhat fiddly to manipulate compared with desktop tools.
  • Not aimed at brute‑force output — it doesn’t match the raw power of heavyweight CI amplifiers, even though pairs can be bridged for higher output.

Dynamics

91/100

Reviewers repeatedly note effortless dynamics, strong headroom and absence of audible distortion even when pushed, and the amp is bridgeable for much higher output when needed. The spec sheet shows a peak output current of 15 A, IHF dynamic power numbers that rise substantially when bridged, and a damping factor of 110 — all consistent with authoritative speaker control for a CI-class multi-channel amp. Given the 60 W/ch rating (with robust bridged capability) and the reviewer language about 'dramatic shifts... effortless' and 'no hint of the wire length,' the dynamics score is high for this power class.

Soundstage Imaging

90/100

The reviewer reports the 'soundstage opened as well, filling the room more thoroughly than before,' indicating improved scale and placement with DSP and the amplifier's imaging. Channel separation specs (60 dB at 1 kHz, 55 dB at 10 kHz) and the amp's clean delivery support stable imaging even in multi-channel setups. The result is a strong spatial performance for a compact, multi-channel CI amp.

Build Quality

90/100

Fit and finish are described as 'typical NAD' — elegant understatement — and the unit is a substantial 2U chassis with notable heft (10.3 kg) and a brushed aluminium faceplate. Review notes the robust block connectors accepting up to 10 AWG cable and a practical, service-friendly design for CI installations. Thermal and power-supply details are not deeply enumerated by the reviewer, but the physical construction and connector quality justify a high build score.

Value for Money

96/100

At the listed street price (~$3,299) the reviewer praises NAD's balancing of price, performance and features and explicitly states NAD 'obliterates' similarly priced CI competitors such as Russound and Nuvo. Given the combination of solid sonics, DSP configurability, robust connectors and bridgeable channels, the reviewer conveys strong, superlative value language; the score reflects that the product 'punches above its weight' in its segment.
