Magico A1
The A1 bookshelf loudspeaker features a fully braced aluminum enclosure, beryllium dome tweeter, carbon Nanographene cone, and our renowned elliptical crossover.
Enclosure
The A1 enclosure is constructed using 3⁄8” thick 6061 T6 aircraft grade aluminum, similar to the enclosure developed for the Q1 and is available in an elegant brushed-aluminum, black anodized finish. An innovative internal bracing technique along with the most advanced damping materials makes the sealed enclosure incredibly rigid and free of unwanted mechanical resonances. The complete enclosure design of the A1 is evaluated in simulation using the latest FEA software along with physical testing to meet the uncompromising requirements of Magico for optimized enclosure rigidity, stability and to ensure benchmark acoustical standards.
Tweeter
Featuring the same tweeter as the full range A3, the A1 utilizes a pure Beryllium-diaphragm with an optimized 28-mm dome based on the fundamental design platform and geometry of our reference M- Series tweeter. The customized neodymium motor system is encased in an improved back chamber with our latest generation damping materials that facilitate ultra-low distortion, higher power handling, massive dynamic capabilities, and extended linear voice coil movement.
Mid-Bass
The newly developed 6.5-inch mid-bass driver features a Multi-Wall carbon fiber cone with a layer of XG Nanographene, providing optimal stiffness to weight ratio and an ideal damping factor. The driver frame has been designed, simulated and tested for the optimal combination of stiffness and damping. Minimum acoustical impact is achieved through reducing vibration modes while maximizing air flow. The motor system incorporates extra-large magnets to ensure a stabilized magnetic field in the 39- mm pure titanium voice coil. The A1 mid-bass driver is optimized for minimal music related distortions in its bandpass, in both the frequency and time domains using state of the art finite element analysis simulation of acoustical, mechanical, electromagnetic and thermal behavior.

Compact but authoritative, the A1 delivers remarkably deep, controlled bass and a pristine, vocalist-forward midrange thanks to its beryllium tweeter and graphene-infused woofer. Reviewers praise its inert sealed cabinet and expansive soundstage, revealing fine detail without glare. Pairing demands a powerful amp due to modest sensitivity, but its build and tonal coherence make it a standout small standmount — noted by HiFi Choice and SoundStage Solo.
Pros
- Pristine, vocalist-forward midrange and high resolution delivering natural timbre and presence.
- Tight, extended bass for a compact sealed standmount — measured extension down to roughly 40Hz with controlled, unboomy decay.
- Exceptionally solid, machined-aluminium cabinet and precision build that minimise coloration and support wide, accurate imaging.
&
Cons
- Modest sensitivity (~84dB) means the A1 needs a higher-power, capable amplifier to reach headroom and best dynamics.
- Absolute SPL and headroom are limited compared with larger floorstanders; compression can appear at very loud, boisterous levels.

Bass
91/100
Sealed 6.5" mid/bass with measured output down to ~40Hz and consistently described as 'full-sounding' and 'surprisingly deep for its size.' Reviewers note tight, unboomy low end that 'dips into' the bottom octave; excellent extension and control for a standmount of this driver size.
Mid
94/100
Multiple reviewers praise vocal purity, presence and natural timbre ('supreme vocal performer', 'purity through the midrange'). Midband is described as smooth, rich and highly refined, giving instruments and voices strong, tangible presence.
Treble
92/100
28mm beryllium dome tweeter yields extended, well-controlled highs described as 'just right'—neither bright nor dull. Reviewers report excellent high-frequency extension and detail without glare or sibilance.
Soundstage Imaging
93/100
Repeated comments about wide, deep soundstage and precise imaging ('positively vanish', instruments placed convincingly far back). Drums and large-scale recordings recreated with surprising scale and convincing depth for a compact standmount.
Dynamics
87/100
Generally strong dynamic control and composure; reviewers note the speakers 'soak up power' and deliver shifts with verve. A few reports of compression at extreme, 'boisterous' levels cap absolute headroom compared with larger floorstanders.

Build Quality
95/100
Exceptional machining and finish: six machined aluminium panels, heavy 22kg cabinet, excellent internal bracing and damping. Multiple reviewers call the construction and finish 'truly exceptional' and note the solid, inert chassis.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive single-post standmount baseline applied (WBT binding posts present). No DSP/streaming expected or penalised; sealed-box design noted and contributes to placement flexibility.
Value for Money
86/100
At roughly $10.8k (reviews reference $7.4k–$10k depending on market), many reviewers state the A1 punches above its size and often outperforms similarly priced rivals, but its price keeps it in 'exotic' territory—excellent performance-to-price within its high-end segment.
