View at Legacy Audio

Our Classic HD is designed from the ground up to deliver amazing sound. Great as a front pair in home theater applications; exacting enough for the most critical audiophile. Highs are sweet and clear, vocals are natural and effortless-free of the thin, compressed nasality so common today. Mid-bass has punch, and bass is solid and well defined.

Versatile and Refined Floor Standing Speakers

The Legacy Classic HD speakers are a testament to traditional speaker design with modern flexibility. These Legacy Audio tower speakers are bi-amp/bi-wire capable, allowing you to fine-tune your system for optimal performance. The Classic HD features independent high and low-frequency contour switches, enabling you to adjust the sound to your specific room acoustics. The high-quality cabinetry and a wide variety of finishes make these floor standing speakers as visually stunning as they are sonically impressive.

The Classic HD is a superb choice for both music and home theater.

The rear plate of the Classic HD features removable copper jumpers to facilitate bi-amping or bi-wiring if desired. Independent high and low frequency contour switches allow you to adjust the speaker to your room.

The Legacy 1” dual pole AMT folded ribbon delivers airy and clear highs up to 30 kHz and is the same award-winning Legacy AMT found in the larger Focus & Aeris floor-standing speakers.

Deliciously Crispy

The Classic HD pairs a sweet, extended treble with a transparent midrange and tight, controlled bass, producing a well-layered soundstage that scales from solo vocals to full orchestra. High sensitivity and clean dynamics deliver ample headroom, and reviewer Jim Clements praised its balance and fatigue‑free top end, making these towers a compelling music-centric choice.

HomeTheaterHifi

"I completely fell in love with the intoxicating sound of Legacy’s Classic HD speakers."

Pros

  • Sweet, extended treble with very low distortion, yielding long listening sessions without fatigue.
  • Transparent, well‑timbered midrange that preserves vocal and percussion timbre.
  • Tight, controlled bass with good slam and definition for the cabinet size.
  • Wide, well-layered soundstage and excellent imaging that scale from small ensembles to large orchestras.

Cons

  • Bass extension stops short of the deepest infrasonic regions—may need a larger sub for ultimate sub‑bass.
  • Substantial weight and size make placement and setup more demanding for a single person.

Sound Quality

94/100

Weighted average of sub-criteria below.

Bass

93/100

Dual 8" silver-graphite woofers, rear-ported B6 alignment and a published response down to ~32 Hz support authoritative low end. Reviewers described 'tight, meaty bass' and 'shapely bass pulses' but noted it doesn't reach the deepest infrasonic regions without a larger sub, so excellent extension/control but not reference-level sub-bass.

Mid

94/100

7" graphene-filled carbon-fiber midwoofers and crossover choices produce transparent, well-timbred mids. The review highlights 'voices were pure with clean sibilants' and 'preserved the timbre of percussion instruments,' indicating very accurate and engaging midrange.

Treble

95/100

1" dual-pole AMT ribbon tweeter is repeatedly praised as 'one of the sweetest sounding tweeters'—extended, low distortion and fatigue-free. Reviewers emphasize sweetness and extension, supporting a top-tier treble score.

Soundstage Imaging

95/100

Listeners reported a 'very broad soundstage,' 'no hole in the middle,' and excellent separation of direct vs reflected sounds; speakers 'get the scale right' from solo voices to large orchestras. Imaging is highly refined with strong depth and layering.

Dynamics

94/100

High sensitivity (94 dB) and efficient design yield strong macro and micro dynamics: 'nearly zero dynamic compression during crescendos' and 'never flinched' on demanding passages. Excellent slam and headroom for the speaker class.

Build Quality

93/100

Robust construction with high-quality driver materials (woven diaphragms, cast baskets, graphene midwoofers), heavy cabinet (84 lb each) and premium glossy finishes; reviewer calls them 'especially well made' and notes a 7-year warranty. Small cosmetic finish quibbles notwithstanding, engineering and component choice are clearly premium.

Features Connectivity

80/100

Passive baseline applied. Reviewer mentions dual binding-post pairs (bi-wire/bi-amp capable) and toggle switches to attenuate bass/treble, but per passive-tower rules the connectivity score is fixed at the passive baseline.

Value for Money

92/100

Reviewer explicitly calls the speakers 'competitively priced' and notes a $4,150/pair starting point (and lower per-unit pricing cited in review), describing them as a 'little powerhouse' for the money. Strong value language supports a high score though not superlative bargain phrasing.
