Our award-winning headphone amp, perfected.

The Signature edition refines the acclaimed original with upgraded circuitry, audiophile components, and the addition of an iPower2 power supply with Active Noise Cancellation technology.

Enhanced circuitry. Premium components. Signature Sound.

The original ZEN CAN, our all-analogue headphone amplifier, excelled at driving demanding headphone loads with its balanced circuit design, extremely low distortion, and exceptional sonics. The ZEN CAN Signature takes this design further, featuring enhanced circuitry and audiophile-grade components. Its balanced, symmetrical dual-mono circuitry can deliver a maximum of 1,890mW (11.0V) into 64-ohm loads and offer over 15V to loads of 600 ohms or higher, all through its balanced output.

Why ZEN CAN Signature? Because More Power Matters.

Connect your laptop, phone, or DAC to the ZEN CAN Signature and plug in your headphones. Delivering 50 times more power, you’ll finally hear what you’ve been missing. However, the ZEN CAN Signature offers more than just power; it also delivers warm and exceptional sound quality. This is thanks to its Class A discrete balanced circuitry, inherited from the flagship Pro iCAN headphone amplifier.

Premium Inside and Out

The ZEN CAN Signature employs a military-spec PCB to enhance signal integrity. It also incorporates audiophile-grade components, such as:

  • ELNA Silmic II and OS-CON capacitors offer excellent noise reduction capabilities and frequency characteristics.
  • iFi/AMR ‘OV’ ‘Operationsverstärker’ series op-amps provide low noise and distortion, delivering performance that equals or surpasses many high-end headphone amplifiers.
  • For more details, refer to the photo below.

Unlike other headphone amplifiers that come with standard power supplies like those for notebooks, the ZEN CAN Signature includes the iFi iPower2 power supply. This features Active Noise Cancellation II to eliminate all incoming EMI and RFI noise, ensuring a clean and clear audio experience.

3 In, 3 Out. Free to Connect.

The ZEN CAN Signature offers a range of input options, including stereo RCA, 3.5mm single-ended, and 4.4mm balanced inputs, making it versatile enough to connect with your laptops, phones, or DACs.

For output, it provides a 4.4mm balanced option for headphones that support balanced connections. It also features a 6.3mm jack for headphones with standard single-ended connectors. If you’re using earphones with a 3.5mm plug, a 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter is available, so there’s no need to worry. The unit also includes an analogue balanced output on the back panel, ideal for connecting active speakers via a 4.4mm to XLR adapter. As the ZEN CAN Signature is fully balanced and dual-mono circuit design, this is the recommended output option.

No Pain. Just Gain and Bass.

The ZEN CAN Signature offers multiple customisation options to suit a wide range of headphones.

Starting with PowerMatch, the unit provides four gain settings in six dB steps: 0dB, 6dB, 12dB, and 18dB. This feature ensures compatibility from super-sensitive IEMs to power-hungry headphones. We recommend starting at 0dB and then gradually adjusting the switchable gain level to find your optimal volume for both enjoyment and comfort. It also features two analogue processing modes, XSpace and XBass, designed to enhance the soundstage and low-frequency response of your headphones.

The Signature brothers.

If you’re looking to upgrade your Desk-Fi system to support high-resolution music files up to 32-bit/384kHz, DSD256, and MQA, the ZEN DAC Signature V2 is the ideal companion for the ZEN CAN Signature. This device can serve as a pure DAC, enhancing your audio experience.

To set it up, simply connect your laptop to the USB Digital Input on the ZEN DAC Signature V2. Then, link it to the ZEN CAN Signature using either RCA cables or an iFi 4.4 to 4.4 cable. We highly recommend using the 4.4 to 4.4 cable for optimal performance. Once connected, you can enjoy high-resolution music files seamlessly.

Tailored versions for YOUR headphones

ifi Audio ZEN CAN Signature — compact desktop amp with pro DNA

The ifi Audio ZEN CAN Signature blends Pro‑level analogue design with desktop convenience, delivering a punchy, dynamic sound and impressively low noise. Mark Craven at HiFi News highlights its ability to drive everything from sensitive IEMs to power‑hungry over‑ears via balanced 4.4mm and single‑ended outputs, multiple gain steps and Class‑A buffering derived from iFi’s Pro iCAN. Sonically it delivers tight, controlled bass, transparent mids and lively transients, while highs trade a little air for coherence. The build — discrete high‑grade components, gold‑plated connectors and a practical control layout — supports desktop flexibility: use as a dedicated amp, preamp, or partner to the ZEN DAC. For listeners seeking measurable performance and exceptional value, the ZEN CAN is a compelling choice.

HiFi News

"This is a little amp that delivers a lot!"

Pros

  • Strong power delivery and wide headphone compatibility — drives sensitive IEMs to demanding over‑ears via balanced 4.4mm and multiple gain stages.
  • Excellent dynamics and low noise floor — lively, punchy presentation with a subjective absence of hiss or grit.
  • Thoughtful analogue design and connectivity — Class‑A buffering, discrete high‑grade components, dual headphone jacks and a 4.4mm preamp output for flexible system integration.
  • Exceptional value — performance and measured specs that outstrip its price point, making it a standout buy in its segment.

&

Cons

  • High frequencies lack some air and sparkle compared with more expensive designs.
  • XBass EQ can over‑thicken low end on certain recordings, producing an overly heavy bass quality.
  • 3D analogue setting has a subtle effect and the mode cycling can make A/B comparisons awkward.

Sound Quality

92/100

HiFi News said the amp 'fizzed with a dynamic energy' and characterised it as clean, sprightly and punchy, with added weight to bass drums when appropriate. The amplifier's strong transient response and punch were repeatedly highlighted, indicating very good micro- and macro-dynamic performance. It handles energetic material with liveliness and grip.

Noise Floor

91/100

Measured specs (SNR >120dBA) and the reviewer's comment about a 'subjective absence of unwanted noise or grit' support a very low noise floor. The ZEN CAN's <1 Ω output impedance and high SNR make it suitable for sensitive IEMs and most full-size headphones, producing a near-black background in real listening. No reviewer reported audible hiss, so it earns a high score though not labelled 'reference-level' silence by multiple sources.

Headphone Compatibility

92/100

Technical specs show <1 Ω output impedance (balanced and unbalanced), multiple gain steps (0, 6, 12, 18 dB) and strong power delivery (eg. >1200 mW @ 32 Ω balanced), so it can drive sensitive IEMs through to many power-hungry planars. The reviewer also noted balanced 4.4mm output and multiple headphone jacks, and testing impressions indicate it handles a range of headphones without strain. These factors give it excellent compatibility across headphone types.

Build Quality

89/100

HiFi News describes a symmetrical, balanced analogue design using FET op‑amps and discrete high‑grade SMD components, and notes the ZEN CAN borrows from iFi's more expensive Pro iCAN architecture. Physical ergonomics (large central volume control, included adapters) and internal component quality point to solid desktop build and thoughtful engineering. No structural or reliability concerns were raised in the review.

Features Connectivity

88/100

The unit offers RCA and 3.5mm inputs plus a 4.4mm balanced Pentaconn input, a 4.4mm balanced preamp output, and dual headphone outputs (6.35mm and 4.4mm). It also provides multiple gain settings and an IEM‑friendly <1 Ω output impedance, which raise its functionality well above a basic amp. There is no onboard DAC, streaming, or XLR I/O, so while very well featured for the price it is not fully loaded.

Value for Money

96/100

The review explicitly calls the ZEN CAN 'keenly‑priced', 'value for money' and a 'double‑take price tag', praising its blend of style, ease-of-use and performance; that strong language justifies a top-tier value score. Given its measured specs, balanced outputs, and feature set at about $299, reviewers positioned it as punching well above its price. In short, reviewers see this as an exceptional value in its segment.
