It’s head-fi. It’s desk-fi. And it’s hi-fi.
The NEO iDSD 2 is a versatile 3-in-1 DAC/Amp designed for CAS audiophiles. It works as a Head-Fi DAC/Amp with headphones, a pure DAC with an integrated amp, or a DAC/Preamp for active speakers and power amps. Equipped with Bluetooth 5.4, it supports aptX Lossless, the only Bluetooth codec that streams CD-quality audio without quality loss.
It’s new and Lossless.
The NEO iDSD 2, powered by Qualcomm’s new QCC518x Bluetooth chip and qualified for Bluetooth 5.4, supports all major Bluetooth formats: aptX Lossless, aptX Adaptive, aptX, LDACTM, LHDC/HWA, AAC, and SBC. With aptX Lossless, it offers an impressive 1,200kbps bitrate, streaming true CD-quality audio without lossy compression, ensuring a superior listening experience.
aptX Lossless: 1200kbps
LDAC: 990kbps
aptX: 352kbs
SBC: 328kbps
Stand by you. No matter up or down.
The NEO iDSD 2 offers versatile positioning for Desk-Fi or Hi-Fi setups, with a 2-inch color display that automatically rotates to match horizontal or vertical orientation. For Desk-Fi, you can position it vertically to save space. The NEO iDSD 2 also features an analogue volume control, delivering higher audio quality than digital controls.
GMT Femto-Precision Clock. Upgradable.
The NEO iDSD 2 features an internal GMT femto-precision clock with a smart storage cache, creating an advanced jitter reduction system for cleaner, more accurate sound. For those with an external clock, the 10MHz External Sync Clock input allows you to synchronize the NEO iDSD 2 with other devices like CD players or network streamers, enhancing clock signal accuracy.
This rare feature in its price range ensures exceptional performance, whether using the internal clock or an external sync clock.
More than new features. Enhanced circuitry.
The NEO iDSD 2’s enhanced PureWave circuit design features a balanced dual-mono topology and short signal paths, ensuring superb linearity, low noise, and minimal distortion.
This results in an impressive SNR >120dB(A), DNR of -120dB(A), and THD+N <0.0015%, achieving performance comparable to higher-priced DACs.
5x more headphone output power
With a maximum headphone output power of 5,551 mW (@ 32Ω), it outperforms even some dedicated headphone amplifiers, making them sweat. It features Auto iEMatch to reduce annoying hiss from high-sensitivity headphones without losing any dynamic range
The NEO iDSD 2 is not only a powerhouse, but it’s also tailored for your ears. The newly added analogue processing modes, XSpace and XBass II, along with the four digital filters, allow you to finetune the sound.

ifi Audio NEO iDSD 2 — compact, powerful, remarkably versatile
The NEO iDSD 2 pairs a high-resolution Burr‑Brown True Native DAC with a beefed-up PureWave headphone amp and advanced Bluetooth, delivering a rare blend of refinement and power. Its sound is neutral-yet-musical: taut, well-controlled bass; warm, textured midrange; and extended, resolved treble across a wide, layered soundstage. HiFi News and AUDIOKEY REVIEWS note the unit’s grip and transparency, while Positive Feedback highlights imaging improvements with the GTO filter. Built from quality components with a rotating display and vertical stand, the Neo iDSD 2 supports PCM768/DSD512, MQA and modern codecs including aptX Lossless and LDAC. It’s ideal as a desktop hub or core of a two‑channel system for listeners who want one versatile, high‑value component.
Pros
- Comprehensive format and wireless codec support (PCM768/DSD512, MQA plus aptX Lossless/LDAC) makes it a single hub for desktop and mobile sources.
- High‑power, low‑impedance headphone output that delivers clean headroom and punch—able to drive sensitive IEMs and demanding planars with authority.
- Neutral-but-musical voicing with excellent transparency, imaging and a wide, layered soundstage—performs well with both headphones and speakers.
- Strong value proposition: reviewers repeatedly note performance and features that punch above its price class.

Cons
- Bundled USB/accessory cables are short; several reviewers replaced them or flagged the inconvenience.
- Remote and app ergonomics draw mixed reactions—some reviewers call the handset cheap or hard to read and report occasional control/app quirks.
Sound Quality
92/100
Reviewers repeatedly highlight strong transient response, punch and grip (HiFi News: "real punch... natural decay", The Ear: "engaging balance between sonic power and poise"). Positive Feedback and 6 Moons comment on lively, energetic presentation and convincing percussion impact, and multiple reviewers note the amp's headroom when driving demanding tracks.
Noise Floor
90/100
Specs support an excellent noise floor (SNR/ DNR figures around -120dB) and reviewers report clean, quiet backgrounds with no audible hiss mentioned across tests. Given the engineering notes and lack of reviewer complaints about hiss or noise, the Neo 2 is suitable for sensitive IEMs and desktop listening with a very quiet background.
Headphone Compatibility
94/100
The Neo 2 has <1Ω output impedance and very high power capability (e.g., 5,551 mW @ 32Ω balanced per spec), and reviewers explicitly state it drives everything from sensitive IEMs to current-hungry planars. The combination of low output impedance and multiple front outputs (4.4mm balanced + 6.3mm) gives excellent real-world compatibility and flexibility.
Build Quality
90/100
Multiple reviews call out solid chassis, quality components and a robust volume control (Audiophilepure: "build quality is excellent", The Ear: "High-quality components are used throughout"). The unit's ergonomics and construction are noted as premium for the price class.
Features Connectivity
95/100
Starts from the strong baseline and adds a broad feature set: high-quality built-in DAC (native DSD, XMOS), USB-B, optical and coax inputs, balanced XLR line outputs, 4.4mm balanced and 6.3mm headphone outputs, aptX Lossless/LDAC Bluetooth, and analogue processing modes (XBass II, XSpace). Those combined extras push this unit to the top of its class for connectivity and features.
Value for Money
92/100
Across reviews the Neo iDSD 2 is repeatedly described as a bargain and strong value at its price (multiple reviewers: "bargain", "still a bargain", "top competitor in its price class"). Reviewers note it delivers features and performance often found in much pricier products, supporting a strong value assessment.
