“It’s got a NOS fogger system and a T4 Turbo, Dominic.”
Struggling with your power-hungry headphones? Press the NOS button, and our Diablo goes into beast mode. The Diablo 2 offers three power modes: Normal for IEMs, Turbo for mid-sensitivity headphones, and Nitro for demanding headphones, boasting a 19.2V maximum output. A switch underneath activates iFi’s iEMatch technology. This feature is tailored for high-sensitivity headphones and earphones, greatly benefiting your in-ear monitors (IEMs). It removes background noise and increases the usable volume range.
Wings of Inferno.
The Diablo 2 comes with four wings that you can customise to position it horizontally, like a desktop DAC/amp, or vertically to save space. Additionally, it features twenty-two rails for improved cooling performance, with eight of these rails being compatible with the Diablo wings, enabling desktop stand use.

Shattering Boundaries
Due to the high voltage requirements of xMEMSiFi has partnered with them to integrate this technology into the new Diablo 2. It utilises the piezoelectric effect to create paper-thin solid-state speakers by converting electrical energy into mechanical energy, exciting an integrated silicon membrane to generate powerful acoustic sound waves for enhanced audio output.

Sound So Moving. Even the Devil May Cry.
Diablo 2 features PureWave, Servoless DirectDrive, OptimaLoop, and Advanced Jitter Reduction Technology, delivering exceptionally pure, detailed, and emotionally touching sound, these technologies elevate performance to unparalleled heights, even challenging desktop DAC/amps.
PureWave’s full balanced dual-mono circuitry elevates clarity by separating channels and reducing noise. DirectDrive removes the need for coupling capacitors, ensuring purer audio. OptimaLoop employs tailored multiple feedback paths in amplifiers, refining gain control and reducing distortion.
Ruling all Bluetooth codec and music formats.
The Diablo 2 features the latest Bluetooth 5.4 technologysupporting the new aptX Lossless codec, which provides a maximum bitrate of 1,200kbps. In comparison, aptX Adaptive has a maximum bitrate of 420kbps, while LDAC offers a higher bitrate of 990kbps.

iFi Audio iDSD Diablo 2 — a transportable powerhouse with studio-grade chops
The iDSD Diablo 2 pairs prodigious power and a feature-rich digital stage (dual Burr‑Brown DACs, XMOS) with modern wireless convenience via Bluetooth 5.4 and aptX Lossless. Sonically it delivers controlled, punchy bass, a clean, forward midrange and a slightly lively treble that helps clarity and presence while preserving a very quiet noise floor. Reviewers note outstanding headroom, wide imaging and excellent dynamics when driving demanding planars and hard-to-drive cans — see Mel Martin and Killain Jones.
Build is machined aluminium with cooling grooves, a lockable analogue volume pot, detachable desk wings and a 4800mAh battery for true transportable use. Ideal for audiophiles who want a desktop-grade amp/DAC they can also take on the road. With its broad codec support, balanced 4.4mm output and extensive I/O, the Diablo 2 is a compelling, well‑rounded flagship transportable DAC/amp.
Pros
- Exceptional amplifier headroom and drive: three gain modes and high balanced output let the Diablo 2 power demanding over‑ears and planars with authority.
- State-of-the-art connectivity including Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Lossless plus USB‑C and S/PDIF gives flexible, future‑aware source options.
- Low noise floor and strong dynamics produce excellent imaging and transient control, making quiet passages and orchestral climaxes equally convincing.
- Robust, thoughtful design and accessories — machined red chassis, volume lock, desktop wings and a comprehensive cable/adapter pack — suit both desktop and travel use.
&
Cons
- Initial marketing language around “up to 5W” peak output created confusion; realistic continuous/RMS power is lower than peak figures advertised.
- Some pairings reveal a touch of extra top‑end energy (can sound bright with already bright headphones) and iEMatch/gain interaction can alter IEM tonal balance.
Sound Quality
93/100
Most reviewers highlight exceptional dynamic capabilities and headroom—"excellent" dynamic range and "prodigious power" that handles both quiet micro-dynamics and big orchestral peaks (HomeTheaterHifi, The Ear, HiFi News). A few caveats: SoundStage Solo found dynamics slightly more relaxed compared with a reference DAC/amp in some tracks, so the unit is extremely capable but not always the absolute fastest in transient snap.
Noise Floor
95/100
Multiple reviewers describe a black or completely silent background suitable for sensitive IEMs (HomeTheaterHifi: "music emerged from a completely silent background", Sound Advice: "black background", HiFi News: "without any background noise"). The inclusion of iEMatch and careful jitter/noise mitigation is repeatedly noted, supporting a near-reference-level noise floor for IEM and headphone use.
Headphone Compatibility
90/100
Extremely wide practical compatibility: very high power (up to ~5.18W into 32 ohms), three gain modes (Normal/Turbo/Nitro), balanced 4.4mm and 6.3mm outputs, and reviewers confirm it drives demanding planars and sensitive IEMs (SoundStage Solo, The Ear, HiFi News). Specs list output-impedance ≤200Ω which on paper is higher than ideal for multi-driver IEMs, but iEMatch and gain options mitigate real-world issues—hence excellent but not perfect for the most IEM-critical users.
Build Quality
91/100
Machined aluminium hex chassis, effective heat-dissipation grooves, high-quality analog potentiometer with a physical volume lock and solid controls are repeatedly called out (ecoustics, SoundStage Solo, HiFi News). Reviewers describe it as rugged and premium-feeling for portable use.
Features Connectivity
95/100
Full-featured for a portable: high-quality Burr-Brown dual-mono DAC, USB-C (XMOS), optical/coax S/PDIF, Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Lossless/LDAC/LHDC, balanced 4.4mm front headphone out plus rear fixed 4.4mm line output, three gain settings, MQA support and iEMatch. That combination of high-end DAC, streaming-grade Bluetooth, balanced outputs and line/preamp capability places it at the top end of the features band.
Value for Money
95/100
At the $1,299 price reviewers broadly judge the Diablo 2 as a justified premium—"punches above its weight," "richly rewarded," and strong comparisons to pricier options like the Qutest (SoundStage Solo) support strong value language. There are minor quibbles about marketing phrasing around peak vs continuous power and whether existing Diablo owners need to upgrade (ecoustics, Audiophilepure), but overall reviewers feel the feature set, performance and build make the asking price well justified.
