Alex Smolinski and W. Jennings highlight its musical versatility for both music and screen.
Pros
- Natural, detailed midrange that gives vocals clear presence and body.
- Refined treble — precise and low in sibilance, making transients pleasant rather than harsh.
- Excellent imaging and a wide, coherent soundstage unusual for a compact two-way speaker.
- Versatile voicing that works well for relaxed music listening and home‑theatre duties.

Cons
- Limited deep-bass extension for larger rooms — benefits from adding a subwoofer for full-range impact.
- Rear‑ported design requires some distance from the back wall for best bass balance and imaging.

Bass
90/100
For a 6.5" rear-ported bookshelf the Theva N°1 extends surprisingly low (reviews cite solid extension to just above 50Hz) and delivers tight, well-defined mid-bass. Multiple reviewers called the bass "unexpectedly good" and praised definition/texture, while noting that for deep extension in larger rooms a subwoofer is recommended — so strong performance for size but not floorstander-level infrasonics.
Mid
90/100
Reviewers consistently describe the midrange as natural, detailed and well-bodied: vocals and instruments are presented with clarity and presence. Several reviews note a slight bloom at times but emphasize realism and coherence ("rich and detailed", "natural detail"), indicating excellent midrange performance.
Treble
90/100
The TNF inverted-dome tweeter yields refined, detailed treble with low harshness — described as "soft and precise" and free of sibilance. A few reviewers noted on-axis timbral quirk (a bit bright if the tweeter is pointed directly at the listener), but overall dispersion and smooth off-axis response were praised.
Soundstage Imaging
92/100
Multiple reviewers highlight exceptional imaging and a wide, coherent soundstage ("images well beyond anything I would expect", "front-row seat", "enveloping bass and wider soundstage"). Coverage and stability across a broad listening window were repeatedly cited.
Dynamics
88/100
The speakers show excellent transient clarity and midrange punch (crisp percussion, good kick impact) and can play louder than expected for their size. They do compress in the lowest octaves at high levels (woofers taxed when pushed), so dynamics are strong for the class but not unlimited.

Build Quality
89/100
Build and finish are described as high-quality and tasteful, with good binding posts and attractive veneers; reviewers call the overall build "excellent" though not as heavy as some pricier bookshelf models. Craftsmanship and fit/finish reflect the asking price.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive two-way bookshelf with single-post binding posts: passive baseline score applied. No bi-wire, DSP or app functions expected or penalized; rear-ported design noted in reviews.
Value for Money
90/100
Reviewers repeatedly call out strong value at typical street prices (many cite ~$998–$1,098/pair) and compare favorably to peers (readers/critics mention Paradigm, Vandersteen). Multiple reviews say the speakers "earn their pricing" and give enthusiastic recommendations, supporting high value.
