The Elipson Heritage XLS 11 speaker embodies the excellence of a three-way bass-reflex design, enhanced by a unique vintage aesthetic. Inheriting the highly praised acoustic qualities of its larger sibling, the Elipson Heritage XLS 15, it features a more compact format that blends harmoniously into any decor.

Equipped with a 8" woofer, it delivers powerful and impactful presence, while the two dome speakers dedicated to midrange and treble ensure refined and balanced sound reproduction.

*Optional metal stand XLS Stand 1

This new speaker has a distinctly vintage aesthetic while being even more compact, discreet, and elegant. However, what truly piques interest in this speaker is its exceptional musicality.

This 3-way model with very small dimensions, equipped with a front-firing bass-reflex tuning, features a new 8.3-inch cellulose woofer derived from the Heritage XLS 15 model with a 12-inch diameter woofer. The other speakers are identical: a 2.2-inch treated dome midrange capable of covering nearly three octaves, and a 0.87-inch silk dome tweeter derived from the famous tweeter found in our flagship Prestige Facet series.

A fine amplitude adjustment of 2 dB allows the midrange and high-frequency registers to be adjusted according to the listening room or the user's auditory preferences.

Additionally, there is the option to add a 5° angled metal stand (Elipson Heritage XLS Stand 1) for perfect acoustic phase alignment, raising it by 22 cm in addition to this tilt.

Speed and control in the bass, definition and relief in the midrange, and delicacy and extension in the high-frequency range characterize the listening pleasure of this Elipson Heritage XLS 11 speaker.

Nicely Roasted

Floor-standing-sized compact three-way delivers surprisingly authoritative low end and musical balance. The XLS 11 pairs a muscular, extended tuneful bass with transparent mids and lively dynamics, helped by 90dB sensitivity and front-panel tone controls for fine tuning. Reviewers at The Ear praised its retro styling and engaging voicing, making it a compelling value-packed speaker.

The Ear

"Not only is this a very cool looking speaker on its dedicated stands but it’s musically coherent and highly engaging with all manner of material."

Pros

  • Deep, authoritative low end with strong air and tuneful extension for a compact three-way.
  • Transparent, engaging midrange that keeps vocals clear and musical across a wide range of sources.
  • High 90dB sensitivity and dynamic voicing make the speakers easy to drive and lively with modest amplifiers.
  • Front-panel +/-1dB controls for mid and treble let you fine-tune tonal balance to room and system.

Cons

  • Imaging is focused rather than very wide—dispersion isn’t especially broad compared with some designs.
  • Dedicated bolt-on stands are recommended for the best balance but are sold separately, adding cost and footprint.

Sound Quality

90/100

Bass

92/100

Large 8" mid-bass in a ported cabinet yields extended, tuneful low end; reviewers repeatedly described the bass as 'well extended', 'muscular' and 'tight, powerful' on tracks from Me'Shell Ndegeocello and Red Hot Chili Peppers. For its size (8" woofer, bass-reflex tuning ~37 Hz) the low-frequency performance is excellent, with good air-moving capability and authority.

Mid

91/100

Mids are described as transparent and engaging: 'mid proved transparent' and 'lyrics being easy to follow', with a voicing that balances musicality and resolution. Reviewers noted the speakers are forgiving of less-refined sources, reinforcing solid mid-range timbral performance.

Treble

89/100

Silk-dome tweeter with front-panel +/-1dB control; reviewers said adding +1dB 'opens up the sound' and adds definition without becoming harsh. Treble shows good extension and refinement, tightening highs when adjusted, with no repeated complaints of sibilance.

Soundstage Imaging

88/100

Imaging is focused and solid rather than extremely wide: reviewer notes 'not a particularly wide dispersion design' but praises improved 'solidity, scale and openness' and 'lovely snap to percussion.' Placement/toe-in sensitivity implied but overall imaging is precise and stable.

Dynamics

90/100

Good macro and micro dynamics for the form factor: reviewers reported pieces as 'dynamic, powerful, punchy and pacy' and noted you can 'turn them up without fear of the sound getting shouty.' Timing and punch were highlighted as strengths, including with class-D amplification.

Build Quality

87/100

Hefty 17 kg cabinets and attractive heritage styling earned praise ('very cool looking speaker on its dedicated stands'); reviewers imply solid cabinetry and finish. Specific internal crossover/component comments are limited, so score reflects good visible build and perceived solidity.

Features Connectivity

80/100

Passive baseline applied. Single-post passive bookshelf speaker; sensitivity (90dB) noted as a benefit but no bi-wire/bi-amp or extra connection features documented.

Value for Money

90/100

At the listed price (~1699), reviewers called the speakers a 'reasonable price' and praised Elipson's voicing and market positioning. The performance-to-price commentary ('done a fine job...bringing it to market at such a reasonable price') supports a strong value score versus peers in this segment.
