Professional Reviews 89/100

Rating for RUBICON 2 C

Nicely Roasted

Sound Quality

90/100

Build Quality

88/100

Value for Money

87/100

The RUBICON 2 C brings transparent, tightly integrated sound to a remarkably uncluttered active system, pairing warm, lucid vocals with deep, driven bass and lively dynamics. What Hi-Fi? praises its rhythmic precision and cohesive presentation, while the Sound Hub adds BluOS streaming and versatile digital connectivity. It is a compelling compact route to high-resolution wireless listening with genuine hi-fi authority.

What Reviewers Are Saying

"Their levels of transparency and way with rhythms are among the most impressive we’ve heard in a system of this kind"

— What Hi-Fi? — What Hi-Fi?

"It was a showstopper indeed. HOW can that much sound pressure come from those little cabinets?"

— Alpha Audio — Yung Lie

Pros

Exceptionally cohesive, transparent presentation with warm, clear vocals, satisfying bass depth and strong rhythmic drive.

Simple, flexible all-in-one operation, with wireless 24-bit/96kHz transmission, BluOS streaming and a broad selection of source inputs.

Compact cabinets deliver surprisingly forceful dynamics and high sound pressure.

&

Cons

Revealing balance exposes flaws in poor recordings, and treble can become slightly forward with direct toe-in.

Focus and directness take priority over the widest soundstage; similarly priced separates can offer greater subtlety.

Sound Hub has no dedicated phono input and is not considered an aesthetic match for the speakers.

SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 90/100

Reviewers find the Rubicon 2 C notably transparent, cohesive and rhythmically engaging, with a warm, clear vocal band and bass that has satisfying depth and drive. Its presentation prioritises focus and direct communication over an especially expansive soundstage, while careful placement helps keep the slightly forward treble in check.

Bass

89/100

What Hi-Fi? describes the bass as solid, satisfying in depth and convincingly driven. For a standmount using a 6.5-inch mid/bass driver, the low end appears impressively substantial while remaining well integrated with the rest of the range.

Mid

92/100

The midrange is a particular strength. What Hi-Fi? praises its warmth, clarity and insight, highlighting especially persuasive vocal delivery and an even tonal balance through the central registers.

Treble

88/100

The top end is crisp, transparent and closely integrated with the midrange rather than detached or edgy by default. However, What Hi-Fi? finds it can become slightly forward when the speakers are toed directly towards the listener, recommending straight-ahead positioning instead.

Soundstage Imaging

89/100

Reviewers hear an absorbing, well-focused stereo image, with vocals spread convincingly across the space between the speakers. The presentation favours precision and directness over maximum width or spaciousness, but is described as well judged and never overbearing.

Dynamics

92/100

What Hi-Fi? finds the speakers lively and communicative, retaining precision and organisation as arrangements become dense. Alpha Audio was particularly struck by the amount of sound pressure available from the compact cabinets, calling the resulting wow factor high.

Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.

Build Quality

88/100

The design uses separate internal chambers and dedicated 250W amplification for each driver, alongside Dali's distinctive wood-fibre woofer and bespoke rubber surround. Review coverage provides limited comment on cabinet finish or long-term durability, but the described engineering is purposeful and substantial.

Value for Money

87/100

At $3,499, the Rubicon 2 C combines active amplification, wireless operation and BluOS streaming capability in a neatly integrated system. Alpha Audio considers the series a route to high-end sound at an affordable level, though What Hi-Fi? notes that similarly priced separates can uncover greater subtlety.
