Easy to Position

The wide dispersion pattern of the drivers ensures well-integrated sound that drastically reduces off-axis harmonic distortion.

Contemporary Design

The rounded edges and grille fabric add a lighter and more contemporary look, enhanced by the elegantly shaped aluminium base on the floorstanding models.

Wood Fibre Cones

The stiff, lightweight structure of the reinforced wood fibre cone reproduces details that are uncoloured and highly accurate.

Patented SMC

The woofer magnet's iron pole-piece includes a patented SMC disc that greatly reduces mechanical distortion for a relaxed midrange and lots of detail.

EASY INTEGRATION

Well-integrated sound, even off axis

With the OBERON 7, we've made it easy to integrate it into any room. The driver materials and geometry are purpose-designed to achieve a wide dispersion pattern. The same principles have been applied in the design of the crossover to deliver a well-integrated sound, even when listening at a significant off-axis angle. An added benefit of a wide dispersion pattern is that harmonic distortion and diffractions causing frequency distortion are significantly reduced this is also the reason why DALI speakers are not designed to be toed in.

NEW WOOD FIBRE CONE

Optimised with new wood fibre structure

The OBERON 7 features two 7" low loss woofers optimised with a new wood fibre structured cone dedicated to reproducing the delicate midrange and bass frequency area. Constructed from a blend of fine-grain paper pulp reinforced with wood fibres, the woofer creates a stiff, yet lightweight structure. And when combined with the low loss surround and spider suspension, the OBERON 7 woofer reproduces the most minute details in the signal, unfiltered and with high accuracy.

REDUCING DISTORTION

Patented SMC (Soft Magnetic Composite)

The use of SMC (Soft Magnetic Composite) in the OBERON 7 greatly reduces mechanical distortion caused by hysteresis and eddy currents. The result is a magnet motor system with a drastic reduction in third-order distortion, allowing the OBERON 7 to deliver extended listening pleasure, a relaxed midrange and a surprising amount of detailing in its class.

OVERSIZED SOFT DOME

Combining proven technologies & features

The oversized 29 mm ultra-lightweight soft dome tweeter was specifically developed for the OBERON series, combining well-proven technologies from our existing DALI speakers with new features. The large size of the membrane lets the tweeter generate higher sound pressure with less excursion, keeping the voice-coil motion to a controlled minimum. The tweeter front plate near the dome has been designed with similar geometry to the OPTICON and RUBICON tweeters to create the optimal working conditions for the soft dome. This results in extended frequency response, wide dispersion and low colouration.

OPTIMISED CABINET

Cabinet design beyond 'just' good looks

The OBERON 7 cabinet is constructed from a high density, CNC machined MDF board dressed in high-grade vinyl. The extremely rigid structure is achieved with solid bracings across the inside of the cabinet, which practically eliminates cabinet resonance. The bass ports at the rear of the cabinet optimise room integration by using a rear wall surface to improve bass performance. The elegantly shaped aluminium base also gives the floorstanding OBERON 7 a lighter, elevated look.

Deliciously Crispy

Open, large-scale sound with a surprisingly deep, articulate bass — the Oberon 7 pairs punchy, controlled low end with a seamless midrange and smooth, refined treble, delivering a wide, transparent soundstage. Reviewers from HiFi Choice and The Sound Advocate praise its musicality and near-high-end performance, marking exceptional value at its price.

The Sound Advocate

"The Oberon 7’s cabinet boundaries virtually disappeared from the sound stage with a transparency and openness not generally found in a loudspeaker at such a compelling price."

Pros

  • Deep, controlled low end that reaches into the mid-30Hz region with good articulation and punch.
  • Accurate, uncolored midrange with natural vocal timbres and smooth treble integration for convincing instrument realism.
  • Outstanding performance-for-price: scale, dynamics and refinement that punch well above its ~£/€/$1k class.

&

Cons

  • Imaging favors scale over pin-point focus, so soundstage is large but slightly less precise than higher-end rivals.
  • Cabinet finish and grille retention use visible fasteners rather than magnetic mounts, a dated detail noted by reviewers.

Sound Quality

94/100

Bass

94/100

Dual 7" woofers deliver deep, articulate low end down to ~36-40Hz in-room; reviewers praised firm, punchy bass with good control though not 'floor shaking.' Minor time-smearing/upper-bass bloom noted but overall authoritative for the cabinet size.

Mid

95/100

Multiple reviewers highlight accurate, uncolored midrange and excellent timbral accuracy; vocals and piano placement are clear and natural with seamless integration through the crossover.

Treble

92/100

Soft-dome tweeter gives smooth, detailed treble with good refinement and no obvious hardness; a few listeners noted occasional lower mid-treble 'scratchiness' on some recordings and a small on-axis peak near 8kHz.

Soundstage Imaging

93/100

Speakers create a large, deep and open soundstage with very good lateral imaging and pair matching; not the most pin-point etched imaging but excels at scale and transparency for the price.

Dynamics

93/100

Pacey, snappy presentation with strong macro and micro-dynamics; remains composed at high SPLs and responds well to a variety of amplifiers without obvious compression.

Build Quality

88/100

Sturdy, well-braced MDF cabinet with internal damping and quality driver materials (wood-fiber cones, SMC tech); some nitpicks include laminated veneers and an old-style grille retention system rather than magnets.

Features Connectivity

80/100

Passive tower baseline applied (no DSP/app/streaming). Rear bass port and supplied aluminium frame base noted; typical passive connectivity and impedance (6 ohm) that pairs easily with many amps.

Value for Money

94/100

Across reviews the Oberon 7 is repeatedly described as exceptional value ('bang for your buck', 'fantastic buy') versus its ~$1k price, offering performance closer to much more expensive floorstanders.
