Dali OBERON 5
Easy to Position
The wide dispersion pattern of the drivers ensures well-integrated sound that drastically reduces off-axis harmonic distortion.
Contemporary Design
The rounded edges and grille fabric add a lighter and more contemporary look, enhanced by the elegantly shaped aluminium base on the floorstanding models.
Wood Fibre Cones
The stiff, lightweight structure of the reinforced wood fibre cone reproduces details that are uncoloured and highly accurate.
Patented SMC
The woofer magnet's iron pole-piece includes a patented SMC disc that greatly reduces mechanical distortion for a relaxed midrange and lots of detail.
EASY INTEGRATION
Well-integrated sound, even off axis
The OBERON 5 is at home in any room. The driver materials and geometry we use are purpose-designed to achieve a wide dispersion pattern. The same principles have been applied in the design of the crossover to deliver a well-integrated sound, even when listening at a significant off-axis angle. An added benefit of a wide dispersion pattern is that harmonic distortion and diffractions causing frequency distortion are significantly reduced – this is also the reason why DALI speakers are not designed to be toed in.
NEW WOOD FIBRE CONE
Optimised with new wood fibre structure
The OBERON 5 features two 5¼" low loss woofers optimised with a new wood fibre structured cone dedicated to reproducing the delicate midrange and bass frequency area. Constructed from a blend of fine-grain paper pulp reinforced with wood fibres, the woofer creates a stiff, yet lightweight structure. And when combined with the low loss surround and spider suspension, the OBERON 5 woofer reproduces the most minute details in the signal, unfiltered and with high accuracy.
REDUCING DISTORTION
DALI's patented SMC reducing distortion
The use of SMC (Soft Magnetic Composite) in the OBERON 5 greatly reduces mechanical distortion caused by hysteresis and eddy currents. The result is a magnet motor system with a drastic reduction in third-order distortion, which allows the OBERON 5 to deliver extended listening pleasure, a relaxed midrange and a surprising amount of detailing in its class.
OVERSIZED SOFT DOME
Combining proven technologies & features
The oversized 29 mm ultra-lightweight soft dome tweeter was specifically developed for the OBERON series, combining well-proven technologies from our existing DALI ranges with new features. The large size of the membrane lets the tweeter generate higher sound pressure with less excursion, keeping the voice-coil motion to a controlled minimum. The tweeter front plate near the dome has been designed with similar geometry to the OPTICON and RUBICON tweeters to create the optimal working conditions for the soft dome. This results in extended frequency response, wide dispersion and low colouration.
OPTIMISED CABINET
Cabinet design beyond 'just' good looks
The OBERON 5 cabinet is constructed from a high density, CNC machined MDF board dressed in high-grade vinyl. The extremely rigid structure is achieved with solid bracings across the inside of the cabinet, which practically eliminates cabinet resonance. The bass ports at the rear of the cabinet optimise room integration by using a rear wall surface to improve bass performance. The elegantly shaped aluminium base also gives the floorstanding OBERON 5 a lighter, elevated look.

OBERON 5 punches far above its size with a big, full-bodied presentation — twin woofers deliver deep bass and the design’s timing brings lively dynamic slam. Reviewers at StereoNET United Kingdom and What Hi‑Fi? praise its expansive soundstage, detailed mids and rhythmic precision, making it a compelling small-floorstander with standout value.
Pros
- Powerful, well-extended midbass that gives the speaker a full-bodied, authoritative low end for its compact size.
- Wide, layered soundstage and stable imaging with strong off-axis dispersion, so instruments and vocals sit convincingly in the room.
- Energetic dynamics and tight timing — handles rhythmic detail, punch and large level swings with controlled slam and drive.
&
Cons
- Limited extension into the deepest bottom octave compared with larger designs — less sub‑20–40Hz weight on orchestral or very deep-bass tracks.
- Treble can be a touch dry or a little hard at high listening levels, owing to the large soft‑dome tweeter’s character on some recordings.

Bass
92/100
Multiple reviewers praise the Oberon 5's deep, well-extended and authoritative midbass (StereoNET, Wall of Sound, What Hi‑Fi). Claimed response to ~39Hz and port tuning at 43Hz plus 'room‑filling' and 'rich' bass comments support an excellent low-end for a small dual 5.25" tower; reviewers do note it won't reach the deepest bottom‑octave like larger designs.
Mid
94/100
Consistent praise for a robust, engaging midband: 'wealth of timbral cues', 'flesh‑on‑the‑bone' vocals and 'agile mid‑range' (TAS, StereoNET, Wall of Sound). Reviewers highlight coherence through the crossover and natural vocal presence, indicating very strong midrange performance for the price/class.
Treble
90/100
Treble is described as energetic and detailed with good sizzle and extension (StereoNET, What Hi‑Fi), aided by a large 29mm soft‑dome. Some reviews call highs 'smooth but a bit dry/shaded' or note slightly less delicate three‑dimensionality versus some rivals, so high but not reference.
Soundstage Imaging
93/100
Many reviews cite wide, layered and well‑focused soundstaging with strong off‑axis dispersion (StereoNET, Wall of Sound, What Hi‑Fi). Imaging is consistently reported as stable and spacious, with players placed convincingly in the soundfield.
Dynamics
92/100
Reviewers repeatedly note rhythmic alacrity, slam and the ability to handle large level swings with control and timing (StereoNET, What Hi‑Fi, TAS). While not megaton rock concert levels, the Oberon 5 delivers lively micro/macro dynamics and good headroom for domestic use.

Build Quality
90/100
Solid engineering for the category: MDF cabinets, DALI wood‑fibre/paper cones and SMC magnet tech are cited for reduced distortion and natural damping (StereoNET, Wall of Sound). Finishes and construction are described as well executed for the price, though not luxury‑level.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive baseline applied. Single‑wired two‑way crossover, 88dB sensitivity and 6Ω nominal impedance; no special DSP/streaming features (What Hi‑Fi, StereoNET).
Value for Money
94/100
Reviewers repeatedly call the Oberon 5 a superb value and 'gold star' bargain (Wall of Sound, StereoNET, What Hi‑Fi). Even where TAS lists a higher MSRP, the consensus is that performance significantly outpaces cost in the small floor‑stander category.
