Dali OBERON 3
Easy to Position
The wide dispersion pattern of the drivers ensures well-integrated sound that drastically reduces off-axis harmonic distortion.
Contemporary Design
The rounded edges and grille fabric add a lighter and more contemporary look, enhanced by the elegantly shaped aluminium base on the floorstanding models.
Wood Fibre Cones
The stiff, lightweight structure of the reinforced wood fibre cone reproduces details that are uncoloured and highly accurate.
Patented SMC
The woofer magnet's iron pole-piece includes a patented SMC disc that greatly reduces mechanical distortion for a relaxed midrange and lots of detail.
EASY INTEGRATION
Well-integrated sound, even off axis
The OBERON 3 is at home in any room. The driver materials and geometry we use are purpose-designed to achieve a wide dispersion pattern. The same principles have been applied in the design of the crossover to deliver a well-integrated sound, even when listening at a significant off-axis angle. An added benefit of a wide dispersion pattern is that harmonic distortion and diffractions causing frequency distortion are significantly reduced – this is also the reason why DALI speakers are not designed to be toed in.
NEW WOOD FIBRE CONE
Optimised with new wood fibre structure
The OBERON 3 features the same 7" low loss woofer used in the OBERON 7. It's been optimised with a new wood fibre structured cone dedicated to reproducing the delicate midrange and bass frequency area. Constructed from a blend of fine-grain paper pulp reinforced with wood fibres, the woofer creates a stiff, yet lightweight structure. And when combined with the low loss surround and spider suspension, the OBERON 3 woofer reproduces the most minute details in the signal, unfiltered and with high accuracy.
REDUCING DISTORTION
DALI's patented SMC reducing distortion
The use of SMC (Soft Magnetic Composite) in the OBERON 3 greatly reduces mechanical distortion caused by hysteresis and eddy currents. The result is a magnet motor system with a drastic reduction in third-order distortion, which allows the OBERON 3 to deliver extended listening pleasure, a relaxed midrange and a surprising amount of detailing in its class.
OVERSIZED SOFT DOME
Combining proven technologies & features
The oversized 29 mm ultra-lightweight soft dome tweeter was specifically developed for the OBERON series, combining well-proven technologies from our existing DALI ranges with new features. The large size of the membrane lets the tweeter generate higher sound pressure with less excursion, keeping the voice-coil motion to a controlled minimum. The tweeter front plate near the dome has been designed with similar geometry to the OPTICON and RUBICON tweeters to create the optimal working conditions for the soft dome. This results in extended frequency response, wide dispersion and low colouration.
OPTIMISED CABINET
Cabinet design beyond 'just' good looks
The OBERON 3 cabinet is constructed from a high density, CNC machined MDF board dressed in high-grade vinyl. The extremely rigid structure is achieved with solid bracings across the inside of the cabinet, which practically eliminates cabinet resonance. The bass ports at the rear of the cabinet optimise room integration by using a rear wall surface to improve bass performance. The OBERON series also introduces a new rounded front grille design for a lighter and more contemporary look.

Big, weighty low end makes these stand‑mount speakers feel like floorstanders, delivering a room‑filling, dynamic performance with an impressive wide soundstage and imaging praised by What Hi‑Fi? and The Absolute Sound. The soft‑dome tweeter keeps highs smooth while mids remain clear and musical, offering strong value for the price.
Pros
- Deep, weighty bass that delivers a room‑filling low end uncommon for bookshelf speakers.
- Wide, airy soundstage with confident stereo imaging and good instrument placement.
- Smooth, refined treble from the 29mm soft‑dome tweeter that reveals detail without harshness.
&
Cons
- Less engaging microdynamics and low‑level nuance compared with some rivals, reducing intimacy at low volumes.
- Needs some space from walls and room to breathe—the large bass reflex port can be sensitive to placement.

Bass
91/100
Large 7" driver and ported cabinet deliver deep, weighty bass for a bookshelf speaker; reviewers repeatedly call it 'deep' and 'room‑filling'. Needs some room and space from the wall and may still benefit from a sub for the lowest octave, but overall bass extension and control are excellent for its size.
Mid
88/100
Clear, articulate midrange with good body and vocal presence; reviewers note a slightly forward presentation compared with some rivals and a touch less openness than certain competitors, but mids remain well defined and musical.
Treble
86/100
Smooth, refined soft-dome tweeter that retrieves detail without obvious harshness, though some reviewers heard a bit of edge when toed-in or with grilles off; recommended to follow Dali's setup guidance for the most balanced treble.
Soundstage Imaging
90/100
Consistently praised wide, roomy soundstage with good stereo imaging and a large sweet spot; maintains imaging as the listener moves around, producing a convincing sense of width and placement.
Dynamics
88/100
Good macro dynamics and scale—can play loudly and remain composed—though low-level microdynamics are reported as less engaging by one reviewer; overall punch and headroom are strong for the form factor.

Build Quality
89/100
Well‑made cabinets (CNC machined MDF) and attractive finishes; overall craftsmanship and materials are judged to be solid and class-appropriate.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive two‑way bookshelf: single-post binding posts baseline applied. No deduction for lack of DSP/streaming — passive baseline enforced.
Value for Money
90/100
Reviewers highlight strong performance for the price (mentions of ~$800/£469 in reviews) and comparisons to larger/ pricier designs; seen as an excellent value proposition among peers at this price band.
