Dali EPICON 8
Patented SMC
Our patented Soft Magnetic Composite (SMC) is the heart of the magnet motor system, minimising coloration and distortion.
In-House Woofers
The latest generation of wood fibre based woofers are developed and manufactured at our production facilities in Denmark.
Multilayer Laminate
6 layers of MDF form a rigid construction that reduces cabinet resonances, while the rounded form practically eliminates standing waves.
Hybrid Tweeter
Optimised for the EPICON series, featuring an extremely smooth and wide horizontal dispersion.
THE ABSOLUTE PINNACLE
Musical indulgence like never before
The absolute pinnacle of the EPICON series, the EPICON 8 delivers a dramatically rich and detailed sound that will blow your mind and captivate your senses. The loudspeaker is the result of a passionate, tireless quest for perfection. Prepare yourself for musical indulgence like never before and a beautifully striking design that you will love to own.
PATENTED SMC
Reducing distortion for superior sound
For years, designing magnet systems has been a DALI speciality. For the EPICON 8, we decided to challenge the highest performance standards and to take magnet system design further than ever before. The answer was Soft Magnetic Composite (SMC) material, which combines extremely high magnetic conductivity and very low electrical conductivity to deliver a dramatic reduction in distortion caused by mechanical loss in the magnet system.
DALI HYBRID TWEETER
The master of wide dispersion
The DALI hybrid tweeter module features a soft dome tweeter and a planar tweeter that combine to create an amazing rendition of high-frequency details. The voice-coil used in the EPICON 6 soft dome is extremely light and agile, which helps it deliver a broader bandwidth. The planar tweeter is the master of wide dispersion and, in combination with the soft dome, reaches as low as 2.5 kHz, providing continuous wide dispersion as the soft dome becomes more directional at higher frequencies. This extreme bandwidth and ultra-wide dispersion is an important part of DALI's sound philosophy.
WOOD FIBRE WOOFERS
Manufactured at DALI facility in Denmark
At DALI, we believe in designs based on low mechanical loss, and we were among the first to master the control of frequency response through carefully balanced design. Designs such as our wood fibre cone with its light, rigid and randomly uneven structure that reproduces the finest details and dynamics in the music with very low loss of information.
CABINET DESIGN
Blending elegant design & functionality
The EPICON 8 is a masterclass in elegant loudspeaker design, with curved lines and a real-wood veneer finished with 10 layers of lacquer, each hand polished to a deep gloss. But the cabinet is also functional. With no parallel surfaces, unwanted reflections are practically eliminated, while the rigid construction provides a solid platform and an acoustically tuned 'spring' for the drivers, which helps to eliminate resonant energy. Separate chambers inside the cabinet also allow each woofer to be individually tuned to perfection, and bass ports located directly behind the bass and midrange drivers minimise turbulence.

Renowned for its natural timbre and authoritative low end, the Dali EPICON 8 pairs large dual woofers with a hybrid high-frequency array to deliver precise imaging and airy resolution. Meticulous cabinet construction and patented SMC magnet technology reduce distortion for refined dynamics and clarity, a flagship build praised by Best of High End.
Pros
- Natural, reference-class sound reproduction emphasized by Dali’s design approach.
- Rigid, organically shaped cabinet and multi-layer lacquer finish reduce resonances and deliver high-end build quality.
- Patented Soft Magnetic Compound (SMC) in the motor system lowers distortion for cleaner dynamics.
- Hybrid tweeter arrangement provides transparent, detailed high-frequency performance and excellent stereo imaging.
Sound Quality
95/100
Bass
96/100
With a driver complement including two 8" woofers plus an additional 6.5" low-mid and a specified ±3 dB low-frequency limit of 35 Hz, the EPICON 8 maps to the reference-class bass band. Expect authoritative extension, weight and control appropriate for a high-end flagship tower; the crossover and large cabinet geometry imply strong low-end slam and low-frequency authority. No reviewer quotes were supplied, so score relies on specification and Dali's flagship engineering pedigree.
Mid
95/100
The dedicated 6½" mid driver and a 3.5-way crossover topology indicate a focused, coherent midrange with accurate timbre and strong vocal presence. Dali's reputation for natural mids and the separation implied by driver allocation support a very high midscore, with smooth handoff to the tweeter and planar unit assumed from the design.
Treble
95/100
A 29 mm soft dome combined with a 10 x 55 mm planar transducer and a specified 30 kHz upper limit suggest extended, refined high frequencies with good air and detail without undue brightness. The dual high-frequency approach typically yields exceptional resolution and low harshness in this class.
Soundstage Imaging
95/100
Large drivers, careful crossover design and the inclusion of a planar element point to excellent width, depth and image focus. The EPICON 8 is likely to deliver layered staging and precise imaging stability when placed and powered properly, consistent with flagship-floorstanding expectations.
Dynamics
95/100
High recommended amplifier power (50–500 W) and substantial low-end driver complement indicate strong macro- and micro-dynamic capability with generous headroom. The design should handle transient slam and large-scale dynamics without running out of steam in most domestic rooms when partnered with capable amplification.

Build Quality
94/100
As Dali's flagship model, the EPICON 8 features premium drivers (planar + soft dome + large woofers), substantial cabinetry and a complex crossover; these elements support high marks for engineering and finish. The spec sheet implies careful resonance control and quality components typical of this price tier.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive tower baseline applied (fixed passive baseline score). No additional connectivity or DSP features were listed, and no penalties are applied for being a passive design.
Value for Money
72/100
At a stated price of 25,000 (currency unspecified), the EPICON 8 sits in a very high luxury price bracket. While spec and presumed performance are flagship-level, the score is tempered by the steep price; without reviewer commentary on competitive value or comparisons to peers, a conservative value rating is applied.
