Blumenhofer Acoustics Gran Gioia 2x10"
Coax Bass Horn /lang
Working on a new horn concept to have a smaller full horn loudspeaker, it developed to become a proficient loudspeaker in a certain kind of coaxial configuration: the two woofers working in the same horn mutate to one only loudspeaker. Therefore it is a Coax a 'la Blumenhofer' with a compression driver horn in the middle. In our workshop we can offer true-wood veneers.Wood is a natural product and depending on several factors might have different color and structure. Color and structure variations of the surface are not to be considered flaws.

The Gran Gioia 2x10" pairs horn-driven immediacy with a time-coherent coax design that delivers astonishing dynamics, precise imaging and finely resolved detail, from cymbal shimmer to taut midbass. Reviewer Ralph Werner highlights its linearity and authoritative low-end, and exceptional tonal naturalness, making it a compelling choice for serious listeners seeking live-like impact.
Pros
- Explosive, low-distortion macrodynamics and transient impact that bring percussion and drums close to a live experience.
- Time-coherent coaxial horn design yields exceptional midrange accuracy, natural vocals and tightly focused imaging.
- High-resolution treble and cymbal detail combined with authoritative, controlled bass down to ~35Hz for a balanced, studio-like presentation.
&
Cons
- Ultra-premium price point (review lists retail around €39,900/pr), which limits accessibility for many buyers.
- Large physical footprint and substantial cabinet mass may be impractical for smaller rooms.
- Design prioritises time coherence and sensitivity over the deepest octave, so sub-20Hz extension requires additional/subwoofer solutions.

Bass
95/100
Reviewers heard true extension to ~35Hz with authoritative, controlled low end; time-coherent design trades minimal lowest-octave energy for tight, well-defined bass. Multiple comments praise sub-bass authority and accurate reach, supporting a near-reference bass performance for a dual-10" coax tower.
Mid
96/100
Midrange described as seamless, highly articulate and neutral with no coloration of vocals; cello and violin timbres tracked closely. Review emphasises time-coherence and continuity through the midbass-to-treble region, yielding exemplary mid accuracy.
Treble
94/100
Horn-loaded 1.4" compression driver praised for exceptional detail, cymbal shimmer and extension without harshness. Review notes superior high-frequency resolution compared with conventional dome tweeters, delivering refined, precise treble.
Soundstage Imaging
92/100
Imaging is extremely focused with tight localization, separation and high focus; reviewers note a slightly more compact soundstage but exceptional image precision and stability. Time-coherent coax geometry supports very accurate image placement.
Dynamics
96/100
Macrodynamic and transient performance repeatedly described as explosive and uncompromising; percussion and drums deliver impactful slam and impulsive energy. Reviewer calls dynamics 'textbook linear and dynamically unlimited.'

Build Quality
94/100
Robust construction: 19mm birch plywood, in-house woodshop build, HDF-complex horn and heavy cabinet mass (~100 kg) indicate premium engineering. Internal bracing and horn/bass-reflex design cited for resonance control and refined sonics.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive tower baseline applied. Provides bi-wiring/bi-amping terminals and jumper-selectable impedance linearisation next to the terminals; no DSP/app expected or penalised.
Value for Money
76/100
Performance is extremely high, but the listed retail (~€39,900/pr) places it in the ultra-premium bracket. Review praises sonic and build excellence but high price reduces value score versus mainstream peers.
