„At first glance, there is nothing remarkable about the AVM Rotation R2.3, the smaller of two turntables that the innovative manufacturer from Malsch, Baden, uses to complete its sophisticated range of various components in the analog Hi-Fi sector: the straightforward, simply elegant housing—a 37-millimeter thick sandwich of hard HDF core and further reinforcing, resonance-dampening aluminum cladding—comes in black, almost inconspicuously. Three small, metallic-framed buttons with tiny blue LEDs for operating the drive emphasize this simplicity. Through the milky-transparent, 3.5-kilogram acrylic platter, one can vaguely discern the motor pulley and the aluminum-made belt wheel. Only the silver-glossy tonearm dares to stand out visually. But then comes the surprise: after activating a hidden three-position switch located beneath the chassis, the platter shines in a rich blue, either subtly or as a true “light show” that transforms a dark room into a cozy club atmosphere. The effect is achieved through an LED ring mounted below the precisely crafted acrylic disc. Of course, the R2.3, powered by an external power supply, can also be operated without this light magic and viewed in the light. For unlike in some dimly lit establishments, where such lighting conceals dirty corners, the AVM is designed and processed to be spotlessly clean.
