AVID Hifi INGENIUM SE
The Ingenium SE marks a significant evolution of the original Plug&Play. Led by a newly developed motor system derived from the Relveo model. Housed in an improved, dedicated enclosure, it delivers exceptional speed stability and dramatically reduced vibration. Paired with an external power supply, this upgrade ensures a lower noise floor and greater consistency, preserving the integrity and timing of the music.
Key Features
- Sapphire Jewell Bearing
- Vibration Transfer Clamp
- External Power Supply
- Optional Upgrades
engineering pedigree
Complementing these advancements is an improved tonearm, engineered for greater precision and reduced resonance. Offering a solution for a wider range of cartridges, its refined design enhances tracking accuracy and control with adjustable anti-skate, allowing more detail and subtlety to be retrieved from the record. The result is a more open, dynamic, and natural presentation that brings recordings to life with increased clarity and finesse.
Reassuringly AVID
Designed with longevity in mind, the Ingenium SE also offers clear upgrade paths to further elevate performance. An optional metal platter increases mass and rotational stability, while an electronic power supply provides even finer speed control. These enhancements allow the turntable to evolve alongside a system, ensuring enduring musical satisfaction of your cherished record collection.

What's inside
Clamp
Fundamental in the design of all our turntables, our unique screw-down clamp grounds the record to the bearing, allowing unwanted vibration to pass away to the main chassis. This lowers the noise floor of the record itself, allowing the cartridge to more faithfully trace the groove, giving a more transparent and realistic sound whilst reducing record wear and damage.
Precision machined from solid aluminium and stainless steel, our clamp also automatically flattens all but the most warped records to the platter mat, allowing the cartridge to trace the groove more faithfully and prevents air pockets under the record reducing sound quality.
Platter
Precision machined high-density fibreboard (HDF) provides a stable, self-damping platform for the record. The cork-based compound mat helps absorb unwanted energy at the record surface, preventing vibration from entering the platter and allowing it to dissipate harmlessly through the bearing system.
For an even greater level of performance, an optional precision-machined solid aluminium platter upgrade is available. Its substantially higher mass and tighter manufacturing tolerances improve rotational inertia for superior speed accuracy and stability, reducing the effects of wow and flutter. The increased rigidity and resonance control also lower background noise and enhance musical clarity, delivering deeper bass, greater dynamic expression, and a more natural, authoritative presentation.
Bearing
Our unique inverted true single point bearing is the heart of all our turntable designs.
A specially shaped sapphire rotates on a captive tungsten carbide ball with no friction, noise or wear. Different to other designs, AVID's bearing has no lateral movement at the contact point, so the platter does not wobble or suffer from rumble noise. The main spindle is tapered preventing standing waves and the single self-lubricating sleeve is maintenance free for life.
Chassis
Machined from solid aluminium, the heavy two and a half by two-inch cruciform shape gives great rigidity between the tonearm and platter. Any movement here and potentially the musical information stored on your records will never be heard. It is also where the bad vibration evacuated from the record through the press fit spindle is harmlessly dissipated.
Feet
The main chassis is supported and isolated from external vibration and feedback from your loudspeakers with our bespoke Sobothane compound rubber. Sorbothane offers exceptional isolation from the harmful effects that would limit your sound reproduction quality.
Motor
Delivering exceptional dynamic drive and unwavering stability, the Ingenium SE advances far beyond its predecessor with a purpose-designed motor system derived directly from the Relveo. Housed within a precision-machined enclosure and mounted on a heavy, standalone stability base, it effectively dissipates even the smallest vibrations. The result is complete control over the platter, yielding rapid start-up, outstanding speed accuracy, and a sense of authority and musical grip that brings recordings vividly to life.
Power Supply
The benefits of an external power supply are undeniable, and with Ingenium SE this advantage is fully realised. A purpose-designed mains transformer and dedicated control electronics deliver an exceptionally smooth, stable, and consistent rotational force to the motor. The result is outstanding speed accuracy, a lower noise floor, and a sense of drive and authority in the music that is unmistakably AVID.
For those seeking to go further, Ingenium SE offers a clear upgrade path with the optional DSP power supply derived directly from the Relveo. This advanced system refines speed control with even greater precision and enables the adoption of a twin-belt drive configuration, enhancing stability, grip, and dynamic expression. The transformation is profound, elevating the SE into an altogether higher realm of performance.
