We’ve been working closely with Lachlan from Passion for Sound for months on the Lydian Amplifier. If you follow Lachlan, you know that he's always been about sound first. He's a lifelong audiophile who listens carefully, critiques incisively, and shares his love for music openly with his viewers. The goal was to turn his "passion for sound" into a literal product: a fully-discrete amplifier voiced for clarity, space, and rich musicality.
This is a fully-discrete design based on a circuit approach used in far more expensive multi-thousand-dollar components. Discrete amplification offers tighter control over device selection and operating points than an all-in-one chip solution.
The Lydian is all about "lifting the veil" and letting you hear things you've never heard before: micro-dynamics, reverb tails, and precise instrument spacing. It boasts a spacious, detailed presentation that's musical and engaging.
The Lydian is designed to behave predictably across a wide load range. It delivers 1.8 W RMS into 32 ohms and 780 mW RMS into both 100 ohm and 300 ohm loads, which gives it enough headroom for demanding headphones without running near its limits.
Multiple inputs let you keep more than one DAC connected, like a delta-sigma DAC for incisive detail and an R2R DAC for gooey tonality. It also makes it easy to insert a tube preamp without redoing your whole chain.
