Apertura Audio KALIBRATOR Evo
The new Kalibrator Evo is built on the foundations of its illustrious predecessor, the Kalibrator, released just before the turn of the millennium, which already offered multiple innovative solutions at the time.
An iconic Apertura model, it has been awarded several times by the specialized press.
The objective remains unchanged: to offer a reference monitor speaker, while benefiting from all the technical advances of the past 25 years.
The Kalya, the previous stand-mounted model in the Apertura range, had already marked a significant step forward compared to the Kalibrator.
The Evo version aims to go even further.
DRIVE UNITS
- Two-way, two-driver speaker
- A 22cm mid/woofer, the same as in Edena Evolution. This driver size remains very rare in this type of speaker, but it is one of the key elements of this model’s performance
- Isotactic Matrix” cone technology and a powerful Excel magnetic circuit
- This custom design driver made by Seas in Norway for Apertura is modified in our facility with the addition of a copper ring and a machined brass phase plug
- AMT « Air Motion Transformer » tweeter. Although this technology is not new, it has made tremendous progress in recent years and now rivals our favorite ribbon driver technology.
- AMT tweeter from Mundorf – mounted on a massive machined front plate with a short horn loading
- The tweeter is offset, and diffraction is damped using a piece of wool felt
CROSSOVER
- Proprietary « DRIM » structure with a triple attenuation slopes and phase control over the entire bandwidth.
- High end components from Jantzen :
- Heavy gauge baked inductors
- Highend Polypropylene capacitors
- Hand wired on a 140 µm copper thickness printed circuit board.
- Optimized crossover structure to avoid magnetic interference between components
- Each set of drive units (tweeter and mid/woofers) are individually measured and crossover values adjusted according to these sets’ measurements.a
- Internal thick copper cable wiring
- Binding post: Pure copper, silver -plated – spades or bananas
ENCLOSURE
- Same high level of mechanical construction as for our other models
- The vent tube of the bass-reflex loading has an optimized location as close as possible to the bass driver
- Panel thickness : 25mm minimum
- Two thick bracing panel to stiffen and create very specific areas where damping material can be applied
- Complex internal damping treatment to cancel any standing waves.
- 3 different type of damping material is used
- 3 standard finishes available :High Gloss : American Walnut – Figured Maple – Black
STAND
- Machined aluminium stand with two very thick vertical elements
- Dedicated stand to Kalibrator Evo
- Weigh t: 17kg
- Mechanical grounding : a central cone positioned on the axis of the center of gravity improves vibrations transfer to the floor.
- The four peripheral spikes serve only for stability
Its 2-way / 2-driver configuration with decent sensitivity, and a nominal 8 ohms impedance allow the Kalibrator Evo to be paired with a wide range of high-quality electronics
