An incredible detailed, full-range and non-fatiguing listening experience with an unbelievable deep and holographic soundstage. That is what Stilla is all about.

Designed to perfection by using all eight aspects of Aequo Audio's Octagon philosophy, the Stilla loudspeaker offers almost all audiophile characteristics of his big brother - the multi-award winning Ensis model - and with its slim and elegant design it is a true enrichment for every interior.

STILLA SPECIFIED BY THE OCTAGON PHILOSOPHY

The unique Octagon Philosophy of Aequo Audio is a design approach that uses eight core aspects to assess the complete design every time a change is made. This technique identifies the influence on chances made in respect to the larger whole. End result: a speaker that is able to excel in all areas, without the need for compromises. The design credo ‘form follows function’ is used throughout the entire process: all shapes have an acoustic or audio technical foundation and are used to bring the whole to a higher level. This is Stilla, explained by all eight aspects of the Octagon Philosophy:

SIZE AND FORM

Thanks to absolute minimal diffraction by its slim size, curved sides and high density sheep wool behind the front hood absorbing all reflections, the speakers disappear completely, and together with steps taken by ‘soundstage & imaging’ Stilla is capable of producing an incredible pinpoint wide and deep 3D soundstage. A very slim and compact design, minimizing its footprint in the room, built by hand out of the finest and high-tech developed materials like Scandinavian plywood, hdf, high stiffness artificial stone and aerospace billet cnc aluminium.  Highly customizable to match with every interior, perfectly finished in every detail.

SOUNDSTAGE & IMAGING

All steps for minimized reflections on the speaker mentioned at ‘Size and Form’, a backwards tilt for perfect driver alignment so all frequencies reach the listening position in perfect time alignment, a time-coherent tweeter with acoustic lens seamlessly integrated in the fully in phase midbass and subwoofer alignment, and analogue top tier quality filter components designed to the extreme; all drivers playing perfectly in phase over almost the entire frequency band.

ROOM ACOUSTICS

Easy speaker-individual low frequency adjustment (ARPEC™) will provide musical satisfaction by enabling easy adjustment for both small and large rooms, as well as rich or lean recordings, and is suitable to overcome imperfections caused by asymmetry of the room. Technology for the reduction of indirect ceiling, wall and floor sound (EHDL™ system). A modest sized elliptical shape enclosure without large reflecting surfaces ensures high compatibility with all rooms.

PLACEMENT

Absence of bass reflex ports on the back or the side and a small footprint allow easy placement. Sounds right if placed near rear walls and even in corners, using easy low frequency adjustments on the ARPEC system on which individual adjustments can be made corresponding to each speaker’s placement.

CLEANLINESS

Super-low distortion drivers with advanced technology and high-damping materials for super realistic sound reproduction, the best in class N-core amplifiers, as well as a stiff highly advanced resonance-free artificial stone enclosure adding no audible sound to the music. No more listening fatigue and extra more power in delivering the musical emotion.

PRECISION

All drivers are built to excel in an extended, clean, low frequency bandwidth. Hence smaller and faster drivers are responsible for a larger part of the frequency spectrum. In addition, motors of all drivers have the latest design features for super-fast signal response. A low order crossover filter and closed type enclosures for all drivers, ensure minimal group delay in the crossover band. The fusion of these fast high precision features together with the ideally balanced stiffness and flexural damping in the moving midbass and tweeter membranes, delivers maximum enjoyable resolution at all frequencies.

AMPLIFIER MATCHING

Easy to drive for all amplifiers: hybrid active system with two 250 W N-core powered 7 inch subwoofers in each speaker, that do all the heavy lifting. 8 ohms nominal impedance and high sensitivity on the passive side ensures easy companionship with the amp of choice. Furthermore, the ideal ratio between open resolution and natural smoothness in the midbass and matching tweeter gets the best out of virtually any high quality amplifier. The full analog signal path -without digital to analogue or analog to digital conversion losses- are ideal for those who like to keep (further) conversion out of their system, using pure analog sources like phono or high sample rate/DSD sources.

DYNAMICS

Stilla is equipped with high linear excursion drivers, including two 7 inch subwoofers, capable of clean sound at high levels with minimal compression and distortion. The motor’s magnetic system has been optimized using finite element analysis to create a large symmetrical force field. Coupled to an special paper cone coated for maximum pistonic behaviour, as well as an extreme linear suspension system, all ingredients are just right for unreal dynamics versus size, and an overall excellence in appropriate slam and depth at all listening levels.

Deliciously Crispy

Stilla delivers impressively deep, controlled bass and a holographic soundstage, driven by dual active subwoofers and horn-loaded low-frequency design. Its time-coherent treble and midrange and analog ARPEC room controls yield precise imaging and easy placement. Reviewers at HiFi Advice and Audiophilepure praise the build and tweeter/lens integration, making the speaker a compact, highly musical high-end contender.

HiFi Advice

"the Stillas have enormous appeal for those who want superb, truly full-range sound without letting the speakers dominate the room."

Pros

  • Exceptional low‑frequency extension and control from dual opposed 7" active subwoofers plus a horn-loaded low‑frequency path, delivering deep, taut bass with minimal compression.
  • Time‑coherent midrange and refined treble via first‑order crossover and the F40 concentric tweeter with acoustic lens, producing precise imaging and a holographic soundstage.
  • Very high build and engineering quality—S‑Stone enclosures, Nomex‑coated drivers and internal damping strategies reduce resonances and mechanical vibration.
  • Analog ARPEC room/placement controls (stepless bass extension/gain) and a fully‑active option simplify setup and remove amplifier‑matching concerns.
