Acoustic Energy corinium
Tweeter
Building on the success of our carbon fibre dome on the 500 series, we identified the need to use an even lighter dome for the Corinium to maximise the transient response of the system. So, we searched for a material lighter than carbon fibre and subsequently sourced a new soft dome material. This newly developed tweeter design has now proven to lower coloration, increase delicate high-speed transients and reproduce the very finest detail and refinement.
Mid and Bass Drivers
At the heart of the Corinium is the midrange drive unit. Covering 5 octaves it’s the key element which produces most of the sound from the loudspeaker system. The new carbon fibre cone and surround helps provide specific tonal qualities we were targeting for this speaker… offering the most natural sound and realistic musical performance. The extra width of the Corinium cabinet allowed us to house a slightly larger bass driver. We went back to basics to develop a brand-new bass alignment that combines weight, speed and slam to produce a natural, realistic sound from what’s still a fairly compact loudspeaker system. In conjunction, we developed a brand new 140mm bass driver to produce a big, powerful, controlled and natural bass sound.
Crossover
Optimised for best transient performance, our 3-way crossover blends the power output of each transducer to provide a rich, tonally balanced sound. High quality components are used throughout including air core inductors, metalized polypropylene film capacitors and metal oxide resistors. The crossover is connected to the drive units using audiophile grade internal wiring which features a patented arrangement of conductors to give the best possible musical detail and dynamic expression.
Cabinet
All these ground-breaking new drive unit and crossover developments are housed in a beautifully curved, exquisitely finished inert enclosure. The hybrid ‘Resonance Suppression Composite’ (RSC) cabinets have a minimum thickness of 22mm and vary up to 50mm for optimal performance. The 4° tilt improves the time alignment of sound to listener, whilst the 6mm ultra rigid aluminium front baffle firmly houses the drivers and isolates any cabinet resonances from the listening environment.

The Corinium delivers impressive deep, controlled bass and a precise midrange that makes vocals feel convincingly human, while a wide soundstage preserves imaging and dynamics. Reviewers at StereoNET, Part Time Audiophile and hi-fi+ note its agility, musicality and premium cabinet/crossover engineering that rewards a strong amplifier.
Pros
- Deep, controlled bass with notable extension and speed for its driver size
- Clear, weighty midrange that delivers believable, emotionally engaging vocals
- Wide, well-layered soundstage and dynamic presentation that stays coherent at higher levels
&
Cons
- Lacks the very deepest, reference-class 'stygian' bottom octave some larger designs provide
- Beneficially paired with a robust, current-rich amplifier — quieter or low-current amps may be exposed
- Premium British Racing Green finish commands a significant surcharge over standard finishes

Bass
93/100
Measured and reviewer-reported extension below 30Hz with tight, controlled output (6Moons, TAS, PT Audio). Multiple reviewers note deep, controlled bass that is sometimes described as a touch lean versus the very deepest reference designs, but overall excellent extension and authority for its driver complement.
Mid
93/100
Consistently praised for timbral accuracy, vocal weight and coherence (hi-fi+, StereoNET, Sound Advice). Reviewers describe a warm, present midband that conveys emotion and detail without sounding clinical.
Treble
92/100
Soft-dome tweeter yields smooth, airy and well-extended highs with good resolution and no sibilance (StereoNET, 6 Moons, Part Time Audiophile). Reviewers highlight sparkle and transient crispness without harshness.
Soundstage Imaging
94/100
Multiple reviews report wide, deep, well-layered staging with images that sit beyond the speakers and stay focused (TAS, StereoNET, The Ear). Good imaging consistency across positions is noted.
Dynamics
93/100
Described as quick, agile and capable of high levels without compression; strong rhythmic drive and transient speed (hi-fi+, The Ear, StereoNET). Reviewers found them lively and capable of impressive macro- and micro-dynamics.

Build Quality
95/100
Heavy, well-braced RSC cabinets with 6mm aluminium baffle, thick panels and careful internal bracing earn repeated praise (6 Moons, Audiophilepure, The Ear). Finishes and construction are described as premium for the price.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive single‑wire speaker terminals; high sensitivity (92dB) and 4Ω nominal impedance. Passive baseline of 80 applied.
Value for Money
93/100
Reviewers repeatedly call it a standout bargain in its price band, offering near high‑end performance for the cost (TAS, StereoNET, hi-fi+). Strong consensus that it competes well vs more expensive rivals.
