THE ORIGIN OF AN ICON: THE 402 LOUDSPEAKER

In 1966, Elipson unveiled a true masterpiece, the 402 speaker, combining aesthetics and technical performance. Its name, composed of “40” for its diameter and “2” for the number of ways, already promised exceptional acoustic quality.

The 402 stood out for its unique acoustic properties, directly linked to its sleek and original shape. This innovative design allowed for a highly neutral sound reproduction, along with remarkable spatial distribution. Under the visionary direction of Joseph Léon, then General Manager of Elipson, the spherical shape was identified as the ideal solution for distortion-free sound propagation.

Coupled with an offset and baffle-free tweeter, ensuring perfect time alignment, the 402 speaker offered a precise, wide, and airy sound image. With its pure design, dictated by the quest for authentic sound reproduction, the 402 speaker quickly became an essential reference for audiophiles, captivated by its acoustic excellence.

A COLLABORATION BETWEEN TWO PIONEERS OF AUDIO
Now in 2025 the partnership between Elipson and Supravox, two pioneers of high-fidelity audio, marks a unique collaboration that brings together decades of expertise and innovation. This collaboration illustrates the shared commitment to redefining sound standards. Supravox, with over 50 years of expertise in manufacturing high-sensitivity full-range speakers, has established itself as a key leader, notably thanks to its Classic, 2000, and EXC series. Its speakers already equip flagship Elipson models, such as the 402 and the AS40, renowned for their exceptional sound clarity.

This alliance reaches new heights with the development of the 402 Tribute speaker, an acoustic masterpiece. The result of the latest technological advances, it combines Supravox’s artisanal expertise with Elipson’s innovation, offering a breathtaking sound reproduction. Each component has been carefully selected to ensure an immersive listening experience.
