SOUND YOU CAN FEEL
The NS-2000A is a new generation of speaker crafted by Yamaha. Fusing exquisitely rich aesthetics with the latest advanced technologies, it delivers a unified, balanced sound field that encompasses musicality at its essence.
INSTRUMENTAL INSPIRATION
The Yamaha NS-2000A comes with the same signature gloss finish as found on our grand pianos. This elegant finish presents the speaker as stylish piece of furniture, providing a heightened sense of aesthetic even when no music is playing.
TRUE SOUND
This is sound only Yamaha can realize. We're the only brand in the world that handles audio from the moment sound is created to the moment it reaches the human ear. Simply close your eyes, feel the music in front of you, and experience the profound sensation of being closer to the artist.
TONAL BALANCE
Yamaha expresses sound as the artist intended. Reproducing sonic elements such as vocals, instruments at the right pitch requires both passion and precision. Yamaha accomplishes this through tonal balance, enriching harmonies, and recreating musicality to help you hear sounds you couldn't hear before.
PERFECTLY UNIFIED TONE
We deliver the audio of musical instruments just as they sound when played. As a world-renowned musical instrument brand, Yamaha is relentlessly committed to this mission. We created flagship speakers under the design concept of having consistent tone color throughout the entire frequency spectrum and applied unique technology to achieve it. Every speaker unit is made from a blend of ZYLON®, which has excellent sound velocity and minimal internal dispersion, and spruce, which is used in the soundboard of Yamaha grand pianos. This ensures accurate, faithful tonal expression throughout the entire audio spectrum, making the harmonies of the sound stand out and the music richer and more beautiful.
SOUND IMAGE
The position of the artist and the instruments, as well as the delicate nuances and the very atmosphere of the performance space, is stunningly reproduced. The resulting soundstage is so incredibly realistic, you’ll feel as if you were watching the performance unfold right in front of you.
TOTAL MUSIC REPRODUCTION
Our patented Resonance Suppression (R.S.) chambers are mounted on the back of the tweeter and midrange units in order to faithfully express even the subtlest nuances of musical instruments and voices. Two specially shaped tubes cancel out unwanted resonance generated behind the diaphragm without relying on conventional sound-absorbing materials. This revives the natural sound and maintains the minute musical details in the original source.
FAITHFUL MUSICAL PRESENCE
Conventional speakers use a large amount of sound-absorbing material to eliminate standing waves inside the cabinet. Unfortunately, doing so also removes much of the inherent freshness of the music. In the NS-2000A, we’ve employed our patented Acoustic Absorber resonator tube to eliminate standing waves. This patented technology minimizes the amount of absorbing material so that the original realism of music that tends to be lost by sound absorption is reproduced with full energy and dynamism.
DYNAMICS
As opposed to merely producing powerful sound, we pursue a sense of dynamics that express the contrast between stillness and motion in the music.
HIGHLY MUSICAL VIBRATION CONTROL
The basis for producing excellent sound—determining what makes the enclosure sound and where to suppress vibration—is virtually identical whether crafting musical instruments or creating speakers. The cabinet construction of the NS-2000A incorporates state-of-the-art speaker design technology that makes full use of laser vibrometers used in musical instrument research and development, as well as sophisticated Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis. The cross piece of the cabinet has been optimally reinforced ensuring solid low-frequency response, providing a secure, comfortable musical foundation without anything being lost.

Yamaha NS-2000A — refined musicality with powerhouse low end
The Yamaha NS-2000A marries a piano‑gloss, heirloom-quality finish with a deliberately tuned, musically engaging sound. Built around Yamaha's Harmonious Diaphragm drivers (Zylon blend) and a clever resonance‑suppression chamber, the NS-2000A delivers deep, controlled bass, airy treble and an expansive soundstage that suits critical listening and cinematic moments alike.
Reviewers applaud the speaker's slam, dynamic headroom and lifelike imaging: orchestral and electronic material both reveal detail and composure. Construction is luxury-grade — heavy cabinets, premium binding posts and the same lacquer process Yamaha uses on grand pianos — making them visually and mechanically durable.
Placement matters: a slight midrange recess can appear on-axis, so positioning and toe‑in influence perceived balance. For listeners seeking refined build, strong low‑end extension and wide, engaging presentation, the NS-2000A is a compelling high‑end choice.
Pros
- Deep, controlled bass that extends into the high 20s Hz, often negating the need for a subwoofer.
- Luxurious build and finish — heavy, well-braced cabinets and piano‑gloss lacquer that feel heirloom‑grade.
- Wide, immersive soundstage with solid imaging and excellent dynamic headroom across genres.
&
Cons
- Measured on‑axis midrange sits slightly recessed (placement-sensitive); toe‑in and listening height affect tonal balance.
- Single set of binding posts — no bi‑amp/bi‑wire option for users who prefer flexible wiring configurations.

Midrange described as smooth and a highlight of the design, though Audioholics measured a ~5 dB on-axis mid dip (recessed). Overall presentation remains musical and coherent, with strong vocal and midband timbre when properly situated.
Treble
90/100
Treble is crisp and refined—'silk-like' ambience per reviewers—with a noted upper-treble spike ~16.5 kHz but no sibilance; extended and detailed without being bright or fatiguing.
Soundstage Imaging
94/100
Consistently praised for wide, expansive soundstages and lifelike recreations of acoustic spaces; imaging described as precise and capable of layering and depth when room/placement are correct.
Dynamics
93/100
Speakers handle high SPLs 'without breaking a sweat,' deliver strong macro- and micro-dynamics and integrate well with subwoofers when used, giving strong slam and speed.
