What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 88/100
The Rivo Plus was praised for getting out of the way of the DAC rather than imposing a sonic character of its own. Its clean, stable delivery and absence of audible hardware noise make it a convincing digital source, though the reviewer did not find it sonically distinguishable from the Chord Poly or a Raspberry Pi-based streamer.
Overall Sound
88/100
HomeTheaterHifi found that the Rivo Plus delivered the desirable result for a streamer: sounding like "nothing" rather than adding an identifiable signature. It sounded consistently good in use, but the reviewer heard no clear sound-quality advantage over the Chord Poly or a home-built Raspberry Pi streamer.
Digital Signal Integrity
89/100
The reviewer reported glitch-free streaming and no digital noise from the hardware, which supports the Rivo Plus's reliable digital delivery. Its output performance was also described as comparable to the Chord Poly and Raspberry Pi-based streamer, rather than demonstrably ahead of them.
FEATURES USABILITY PERFORMANCE 91/100
Volumio combines an approachable control app with a particularly broad set of output options and streaming integrations. Setup was simple and operation reliable, while USB, I2S, AES/EBU, and S/PDIF outputs make it adaptable to a wide variety of DACs and systems.
Streaming Software
90/100
The reviewer found setup straightforward and Volumio's dedicated software reliable and full-featured. The app was considered intuitive and easier to navigate than mConnect, although not quite as effortless as using Qobuz's own app.
Features Connectivity
92/100
The Rivo Plus supports a notably comprehensive selection of digital outputs, including USB, I2S over HDMI, AES/EBU, and coaxial S/PDIF. It also accommodates Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, DLNA, AirPlay, Bluetooth, and local playback, giving it broad system and service compatibility.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
90/100
HomeTheaterHifi describes the Rivo Plus as having build quality and styling worthy of high-end equipment. The review offers little further detail about internal construction or long-term durability, but the overall impression of fit and finish is strongly positive.
Value for Money
86/100
At a listed price range of $1,120 to $1,499, the reviewer notes that all software features are included without extra fees or licence costs, which improves the ownership proposition. The listening comparison included a Chord Poly and a Raspberry Pi-based streamer, but no pricing or direct value comparison for those alternatives was provided, so the review does not establish a clear advantage over peers at this price.

THE ULTIMATE DIGITAL TRANSPORT
The Rivo+ is the enhanced version of our award-winning Rivo digital transport. Engineered based on user feedback, Rivo+ elevates the already excellent qualities of the original.Key upgrades include a dedicated ASIC for cleaner S/PDIF and AES-EBU outputs, improved MEMS clocks for lower jitter, I2S over HDMI connectivity for compatible high-end DACs, and a 12V trigger to power on/off other components. If you demand the pinnacle of digital transport performance, the Rivo+ is the solution.
ENHANCED AUDIO VIA I2S/DSD OVER HDMI FOR DISCERNING LISTENERS
The Rivo+ features a dedicated ASIC to generate the S/PDIF and AES-EBU output signals, offloading this crucial task from the CPU. This specialized integrated circuit is designed to produce these digital output signals with uncompromising precision, free from any potential interference or jitter introduced by the main processor.
Powering this dedicated ASIC is a high-quality MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) clock, which provides an exceptionally stable and low-jitter timing reference. Coupled with low-noise voltage regulators, this enhancement to the RIVO+ ensures the output signals maintain the utmost purity and refinement.
