The VE ZEN introduces the VE10 under a new name as the flagship of the Custom Line. In the VE ZEN, we combine the power of nine balanced armature drivers (BA) with an 8 mm dynamic driver with acoustic low-pass filter (DD). This combination provides an incomparable sound with powerful bass, lively mids and airy highs.
The dynamic bass driver gives the low frequencies a much more natural sound, a perfect blend of emotion and precision. The very lively mid frequencies have an almost magical presence and sound incredibly open and detailed. The upper frequencies sound as open and airy as you are usually only used to from In-Ears that use electrostatic tweeters. This combination merges into a sound spectacle that not only invites you to listen, but also transports you into a world of pure sonic ecstasy.
Further outstanding features of the VE ZEN are the high resolution, the balanced sound and the wide stereo image. Thanks to this high level of resolution, the VE ZEN is perfect for controlling any instrument without sacrificing the fun factor. Rich lows make the rhythm section's hearts beat faster, while precisely balanced mids and highs provide excellent control for vocals, keyboards and guitars. The wide and open sound stage reveals details that you've never heard before.
In-ears use different driver technologies to produce sound. Two of the most common types are balanced armature drivers (BA) and dynamic drivers (DD). Both have their own strengths and sound different depending on the intended use and sound design.
BA drivers are compact, precise drivers that are particularly efficient at reproducing certain frequency ranges clearly and with great detail. They are therefore often used in multi-way driver setups, where one or more BA drivers are specialized for a specific frequency range (e.g. highs, mids or lows). When used as dual-chamber drivers, as is the case with the VE ZEN, the BA drivers deliver even more power.
Dynamic drivers work in a similar way as speakers: they use a diaphragm that is set in motion by a spool and a magnet. This technology ensures a very natural and powerful reproduction, especially in the bass range. Dynamic drivers usually sound warmer and fuller than BA drivers and give the bass a special sound.
The VE ZEN is an outstanding hybrid system that combines nine BA drivers with a dynamic driver for the bass, creating a unique sound composition.
Why do dynamic drivers need a vent for pressure compensation?
Dynamic drivers work on the principle of a small speaker: a diaphragm is set in motion by a spool, which generates sound waves. This movement creates air pressure inside the shell. If this pressure cannot escape, a so-called pressure build-up occurs, which restricts the freedom of movement of the membrane. This leads to several problems such as reduced bass reproduction or an unnatural sound.
To prevent this and ensure the full sound of the dynamic driver, a small vent (PRV) is integrated into the faceplate. This ensures pressure compensation, allowing excess air to escape without making the sound audible to the outside.
“The vision behind the VE ZEN was to reach the zenith of sound and technological possibilities. With powerful bass, lively mids, airy highs and an incomparable spatiality.”
