Versatility for the Highest Demands

The HPA V324 excels as both a headphone amplifier and a high-quality preamplifier. With the ability to connect headphones, power amplifiers, or active speakers via individually switchable outputs, it provides a perfect solution for professional and audiophile applications.

Balanced Headphone Outputs

Balanced operation with 4-pin XLR or Pentaconn connectors ensures significantly improved channel separation, resulting in more precise and clear sound reproduction. To fully realize the potential of balanced playback, the Violectric HPA V324 employs sophisticated engineering with four separate amplifier stages, delivering exact and distortion-free amplification for each channel. This guarantees exceptional sound quality for the highest audiophile standards.

When listening through speakers, you’re part of the audience. With regular headphones, you take the conductor’s place. With balanced headphones, you’re part of the orchestra.

PRE-GAIN

The PRE-GAIN adjustment allows optimal matching of various sources and headphones. It ensures precise volume control and compensates for variations in input signals. The result is outstanding sound reproduction with minimal noise, virtually no distortion, and perfect channel balance.

The fine-tuned gain range from -18 to +12 dB, adjustable in 6 steps, is located on the front panel of the Violectric HPA V324 for customized adaptation to your audio equipment.

Perfect Headphone Protection

Multiple circuits safeguard the headphones against unclear operating conditions, DC voltage, excessive operating temperature, and overload:

Delayed ON, Instant OFF
Relays and associated electronics connect the headphones to the amplifier with a delay and disconnect them instantly upon shutdown.

DC Monitoring
Outputs are monitored for harmful DC voltage, disconnecting the headphones if a predefined threshold is exceeded.

Overload Monitoring
Power consumption is continuously measured during operation, with headphones disconnected if predefined parameters are exceeded.

Violectric’s Unique Technology

  • Minimal Noise - Achieved through very low internal gain, making the amplifier’s inherent noise inaudible.
  • High Output Voltage - Enabled by a 50-volt internal operating voltage, ideal for high-impedance headphones.
  • High Output Power - Delivered by powerful amplifiers capable of far exceeding the needs of even the most demanding headphones, perfect for low-impedance models and planar magnetics.
  • High Damping Factor - Due to extremely low output impedance, ensuring precise control of even the most challenging headphones with an uncompromised frequency response.

Violectric HPA V324 — reference-class analogue headphone amp

The Violectric HPA V324 pairs prodigious power with an ultra-quiet analogue topology, delivering the control and headroom to drive everything from sensitive IEMs to high-impedance planars. According to The Ear, its true-balanced, fully differential circuitry and low-noise toroidal power supply produce exceptionally clean, precise playback with excellent transient authority.

Performance highlights include extreme voltage/current capability (up to 5000mW into 50 Ω and >21V into 600 Ω), a six-step pre-gain for source/phone matching, and multiple front outputs (4-pin XLR, 4.4mm, 6.35mm). The tactile Alps RK27 motorised control, coil VU meters and heavy anodised aluminium chassis speak to long-term reliability and refinement. Ideal as a desktop reference or preamplifier, the V324 is a high-end, no-compromise option for discerning listeners seeking power, silence and analogue character.

The Ear

"this is a compact amp with gargantuan ability."

Pros

  • Exceptional output power and headroom capable of driving high-impedance and demanding headphones (up to 5000mW into 50 Ω and >21V into 600 Ω).
  • True-balanced, fully differential circuit topology and ultra-low-noise toroidal supply deliver very low noise and high channel separation for clean, natural timbre.
  • Flexible connectivity and user controls — three front headphone outputs, XLR/RCA I/O, preamp bypass, motorised Alps RK27 pot and six-step pre-gain for precise source matching.
  • Robust German build quality with thick anodised-aluminium chassis, laser-engraved front panel and tactile analogue controls designed for longevity.

Sound Quality

92/100

The review emphasises prodigious power (up to 5000 mW into 50 Ω and >21 V into 600 Ω) and a high damping factor, which reviewers link to excellent control, punch and transient authority. Such voltage/current capability and the true-balanced topology indicate outstanding headroom and transient response for both high-impedance and low-impedance headphones. The rating reflects the review's strong claims about effortless handling of demanding loads without pushing into a reference-only superlative band.

Noise Floor

92/100

The review explicitly states 'noise-free sound ... even the most sensitive in-ear monitors (IEMs)', cites an ultra-low-noise 25W toroidal transformer and minimal internal gain; reviewers specifically link these design choices to banishing noise and distortion. Those direct claims justify a score in the band that corresponds to a 'black background with virtually all headphones including sensitive IEMs'. No reviewers report audible hiss, so a very high noise-floor score is appropriate.

Headphone Compatibility

90/100

Specs and review text point to excellent compatibility: very low output impedance (0.3 Ω balanced / 0.15 Ω unbalanced), a six-step pre-gain control for matching sensitive IEMs to power-hungry planars, and extremely high voltage/current capability for high-Z designs. The score is slightly tempered because the available review is chiefly spec-driven — it asserts suitability across headphone types but does not document extended listening tests across a broad set of cans. Thus the rating rewards comprehensive spec support while acknowledging limited published, varied-headphone listening evidence.

Build Quality

94/100

The review highlights substantial mechanical quality: 3–4 mm black anodised aluminium chassis, 6 mm laser-engraved front panel, high-quality Alps RK27 motorised potentiometer and German production with rigorous QA. Additional tactile controls, coil VU meters and premium components strongly support a top-tier build score. Construction and long-term reliability are emphasised, justifying a very high rating.

Features Connectivity

92/100

The V324 offers a rich feature set: three front headphone outputs (4-pin XLR, 4.4 mm Pentaconn, 6.35 mm), XLR and RCA inputs and outputs, preamp bypass/fixed output, motorised Alps volume with IR-remote capability, protection circuitry and a six-step pre-gain. Those multiple balanced/unbalanced I/O options, preamp functionality and user-focused controls place it well above the baseline 80 and into the well-featured category. The score reflects the broad connectivity and practical features for desktop systems and integration with power amps/active speakers.

Value for Money

87/100

The review lists an RRP of £2,240 (inc. VAT) but offers no explicit value judgment versus rivals. In the ~£2k–£3k class there are multiple strong desktop amps and integrated DAC/amps, but the review does not compare the V324 directly to specific peers; given its high-end components, broad feature set and German build quality, a neutral-to-slightly-positive baseline is appropriate. Because peer-comparison language is absent in the supplied review, the score remains at the neutral baseline range rather than upgraded to an explicit 'justifies the price' rating.
