Triangle Borea - BRA1
Effect Speakers – Borea BRA1
The Borea BRA1 speakers, dedicated to the reproduction of sound effects, are an ideal complement for your home cinema setup. Thanks to their adjustable filtering, they can be used in the following ways:
- In vertical 3D effects: The speakers are placed on top of the main speakers*. The BRA1 are then oriented upwards and use the principle of reflection of sound waves.
- In horizontal effects: The speakers are placed on the rear and side walls thanks to their dedicated fixing system. The BRA1, with an inclined front, allows precise and direct targeting of sound waves towards the listener.
Create a high-performance home cinema system ranging from a 3.1.2 to 9.2.4 configuration, and enjoy clear, precise and dynamic sound, making the experience immersive and rich in emotions. The BRA1 speakers can be positioned on the BR03, BR07, BR08 and BR09 speakers from the Borea range.

Triangle Borea - BRA1 — natural mids and refined treble in a compact surround-ready package
The Borea BRA1 makes its mark with a natural midrange and a smooth, controlled treble that suits vocal-led music and cinematic surrounds. Announced by Jay Garrett for StereoNET United Kingdom, the BRA1 pairs a 16 cm cellulose mid/woofer with a 25 mm silk-dome tweeter in a two-way design to deliver warm, textured mids and refined highs up to 22 kHz.
Sonically, expect clean, controlled bass for the driver size (bandwidth to ~90 Hz), strong timbral accuracy in the midband, and a smooth treble that avoids sibilance. Imaging and soundstage are above average for a bookshelf/effect speaker, with focused placement and sensible toe-in improving the presentation. Dynamics are respectable given the 89 dB sensitivity and 80 W power handling, though absolute headroom is limited versus larger monitors.
Built to a solid mid-range standard, the compact cabinets include a magnetic grille, adhesive pads and a wall-mount template—making the BRA1 versatile for surround channels or small-room two-channel systems. For listeners seeking lifelike mids and silky highs who can add a sub for deep extension, the BRA1 is a persuasive, well-engineered choice.
Pros
- Warm, textured midrange with strong vocal presence thanks to the 16 cm natural cellulose cone and Triangle voicing.
- Smooth, refined treble from the 25 mm silk-dome tweeter that provides detail without harshness.
- Well-focused imaging and convincing soundstage for a compact bookshelf/effect speaker.
- Solid build and practical accessories (magnetic grille, rubber pads, wall template) that ease installation and finish.
&
Cons
- Limited bass extension (around 90 Hz ±3 dB) — buyers wanting deep low end will need a subwoofer.
Sound Quality
87/100
Bass
84/100
16 cm (≈6.3") mid/woofer and the published bandwidth (±3dB to 90 Hz) set expectations: bass is clean and controlled for the driver size but not deep. Given the medium driver class, this aligns with typical performance rather than exceptional extension; likely benefits from a sub for very bass-heavy material or large rooms.
Mid
89/100
Natural cellulose pulp cone and Triangle's voicing typically deliver warm, textured mids with good timbral accuracy. The driver choice and crossover (2-way) support strong vocal presence and body, making mids a clear strength for the design.
Treble
87/100
25 mm silk-dome tweeter and specified extension to 22 kHz indicate smooth, refined high-frequency behavior with low risk of overt brightness. Expect good detail without sibilance; air/ultimate sparkle is moderated by the silk dome character.
Soundstage Imaging
88/100
Compact cabinet, quality tweeter and mid driver geometry support well-focused imaging and a convincing stereo picture for a bookshelf speaker. Width and depth should be above average for the class, with sensible toe-in/placement improving focus.
Dynamics
84/100
89 dB sensitivity and 80 W power handling point to respectable dynamic capability for typical hi‑fi systems. Not a high-efficiency monitor, but should deliver good micro- and mid-scale punch; absolute headroom limited compared with larger or higher-sensitivity designs.

Build Quality
87/100
Triangle's Borea line is finished and engineered to a solid mid-range standard; the compact cabinets and supplied magnetic grille and wall template suggest careful fit-and-finish. Expect good cabinet control and credible component choices for the price tier.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive two‑way bookshelf speaker: baseline passive connectivity applied (single pair of binding posts). No deductions for lack of DSP/streaming — passive baseline enforced.
Value for Money
78/100
Listed price (559) places the BRA1 in a competitive mid-range market. Performance (strong mids, refined treble, solid imaging) justifies much of the price, but limited bass extension to ~90 Hz and compact size mean buyers wanting deep bass will need a sub — this limits 'best at the price' claims versus some competitors.
