INTRODUCTION & FEATURE

Eros-5 is the smallest member of the Eros family with two main versions, Eros-5 Monitor and Eros-5 Home. The basic difference between these two options is the size of the speaker cabinet. The width of the Eros-5 Monitor is larger than the Eros-5 Home to flexibly use for different purposes. Along with being used for home entertainment, the Eros-5 Monitor can also be used as a Monitor speaker in music production studios and combined with other models in the Eros series for audio amplification at the live performances and concerts in small and medium-sized auditoriums with very high dynamics and a great capacity of realistic and detailed sound reproduction.

In fact, many major music producers, leading recording studios in the world have used high-end loudspeakers as monitor speakers. It sounds luxurious, but as an audio equipment manufacturer who has had a lot of experience and experimentation in sound amplification, live recording, mixing, mastering, we understand the importance of monitor speakers for music producers. It is really important and necessary when the monitor speakers are able to most accurately represent the recorded sound as well as the most accurate representation of the analog sounds or sound effects applied in each track.

The Eros-5 Monitor and its brother Eros-9 Ultra have been developed to transfer the emotion in music to the listeners best in home entertainment, additionally to achieve the accuracy, precision and detail of the sound to use as a monitor speaker in music production. For the characteristics of sound, the Eros-5 is generally very close to the brother Eros-9 Ultra, typically with high dynamics, detail, coherence and a very balanced sound. The Eros-5 is suitable for listening rooms under 40 square meters, while the Eros-9 Ultra can perform in larger rooms up to 60 square meters.

As mentioned about the versatility and multiuse of the Eros loudspeaker line, each Eros model represents this in a different way. With the Eros 5 Monitor, it can be upgraded in combination with a 15-inch woofer module to become the Eros-12, a large speaker model that impressively performs in various acoustic conditions, room sizes and auditoriums, especially up to 400m2 auditoriums with a capacity of 400 guests.

In home Hi-Fi systems, the setup is also quite flexible when the speakers can be placed in both directions up or down to match actual room conditions and listening position. The image shows two usage situations of the Eros-5 with the treble speakers rotating up or down.

Structurally, all Eros models feature a Bass-Reflex construction. The Eros-5 uses two main drivers, a 12-inch Paper Cone Mid-woofer and a 1.4-inch Titanium diaphragm high-frequency compression driver mated to a 90° x 90° Radial horn. Similar to the general technical solution of the Eros series, the Eros-5 has the following basic characteristics:

1.1. Structure and components

The structural components of the enclosure, horn, the drivers and the crossover were fine-tuned to coordinate together to achieve the most optimal frequency response for the loudspeaker. As a result, the high range is not faded, not mysterious but very detailed. The mid-range is airy, open and has high fidelity. The bass is natural, warm and correct. The overall sound is balanced, soaring, creating an airy and spacious musical space.

1.2. The mindset in engineering the crossover

ThivanLabs’ sound and engineering philosophy emphasizes limiting the impact on the audio signal path to the speaker to preserve energy and sound accuracy when emitted from the speaker. Accordingly, the drivers have been carefully selected and fine-tuned to meet our requirements for sound reproduction. The Eros-5 still prioritizes using 1st order crossovers. By choosing the optimum cut-off between the tweeter and the woofer, the 1st-order crossover makes the crossover point between the two speakers extremely smooth, while preserving the detail and smoothness of the sound and the musicality of the music.

The 97dB sensitivity provided excellent dynamics. The sound of musical instruments and vocals is as lively as performed live in a theater.

1.3. Effective anti-vibration combined with aesthetic elements along with the plentiful designs and various styles of speaker stand and speaker base.

The most difference of the Eros-5 compared to the other models in the Eros series is the speaker base and speaker stand. A fantastic collection of speaker stands and bases has been developed to both Eros 5 Monitor and Eros 5 Home. These speaker stands and bases ensure the best anti-vibration criteria for this speaker model when the speaker operates at high power, so the bass is clear and coherent. There are many styles and designs with the two main height 45cm and 75cm. With the short speaker stand or base, the Eros-5 Monitor will be placed in the direction of the treble speaker rotating upwards. If using the high speaker stand, the treble should rotate downwards to ensure that the audio frequency ranges reaching the listener’s ears in the listening position are the most balanced and correct. The speaker base with Mosaic and Lacquer art decoration is the most special accessory items made for the Eros 5 Monitor. Mother-of-pearl mosaic (since the 1010s) and silver lacquer (since 1930s) are Vietnamese sophisticated traditional handicraft arts that have been reserved and still alive today. This is a fantastic way to maintain this local traditional art and is a way for traditional arts to be applied to modern life and more unique when combined in the audio field. There are also the palisander veneer option and basic black. The Eros 5 Monitor with these aesthetic speaker base designs truly bring many sophisticated options for various interior styles.
