What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 85/100
The Legacy 4 is generally described as a clear, energetic hybrid with strong bass control, above-average spatial performance, and good detail. Its more divisive traits are an elevated, potentially tiring treble response, somewhat recessed mids in one review, and occasional signs of driver disconnection.
Bass
87/100
PortaFi praises deep extension, punch, elasticity, and controlled detail without bloat, while its second review calls the bass tight, impactful, and agile. Headphonesty finds it natural and fast but less punchy than desired, saying bass-heavy tracks can sound somewhat thin.
Midrange
84/100
Headphonesty calls the midrange a sweet spot, with impressively distinct vocals and instruments. PortaFi finds it clean and resolved without becoming dry, though its other review hears recessed mids and a slightly noticeable overlap between drivers.
Treble
83/100
Reviewers hear clear, detailed treble with good attack, natural character, and useful upper-end energy. It is consistently elevated, however: Headphonesty found the sharpness occasionally exhausting, while both PortaFi reviews advise caution for treble-sensitive listeners.
Resolution Separation
87/100
Headphonesty reports excellent channel separation and clear differentiation among vocals, instruments, and changes in emphasis. PortaFi likewise finds the presentation fast and capable of revealing small, nuanced details, though it does not present the Legacy 4 as an ultra-analytical monitor.
Soundstage Imaging
84/100
Headphonesty and PortaFi describe an above-average stage with convincing width, depth, imaging, and three-dimensional positioning. Z Reviews strongly disagrees, finding the presentation notably narrow, so the stage appears dependent on listener expectations and comparison set.
Dynamics Coherence
82/100
Headphonesty describes high dynamics and an accurate, largely uncolored presentation, while PortaFi hears satisfying bass impact and some added upper-mid energy. The second PortaFi review notes that driver overlap can make the sound less coherent at times, particularly around the mids.
FIT COMFORT ISOLATION PERFORMANCE 88/100
The compact resin shells are broadly reported as light, secure, and comfortable for long sessions when fitted with suitable tips. Passive isolation is more ordinary, making these less suitable for especially loud travel environments.
Seal Stability
90/100
Headphonesty reports a secure, stable fit with the appropriate silicone tips, and PortaFi simply says the earpieces fit well. The semi-custom shell shape is also described as well-developed and likely to suit many ears.
Comfort
90/100
Headphonesty found the lightweight smooth-resin body effectively unnoticeable even over hours of use. PortaFi calls comfort good, and Z Reviews also characterizes the housings as notably small and lightweight.
Isolation
80/100
Both Headphonesty and PortaFi characterize isolation as average with a proper seal. PortaFi specifically suggests they are not the best choice for subway or airplane use, although they remain usable for general transport.

Build Accessories
88/100
Reviewers describe the shells as neatly made, lightweight, and finished to a good standard, while the supplied cable is soft and has very low microphonics. The package includes a protective case and an unusually broad 12-pair tip selection, although Z Reviews finds the included silicone-only tips and large case less compelling.
Value for Money
84/100
At roughly $195 to $200, reviewers present the Legacy 4 as a technically capable option for listeners who want its energetic hybrid tuning. Direct judgments on price competitiveness are limited; Z Reviews questions whether the substantial case and accessory presentation are worthwhile at this price.

Manufacturer's Description — THIEAUDIO
THIEAUDIO
Thieaudio was launched in 2019 as a creative endeavor of Linsoul Audio. The goal of Thieaudio was to serve as a creative platform for gathering the best teams of engineers to inspire revolutionary audio products for audiophiles and professionals alike. For each project, we hand select the most innovative and renowned engineers in his or her field to oversee the design, engineering, and manufacturing of the products. Gathering the momentum from the success of the Thieaudio Phantom planar magnetic headphones, as well as the Voyager, Legacy, and Signature series In-Ear Monitors (IEM’s), we are committed to the continual expansion on the limits of high-fidelity audio. We welcome you to join us and experience excellence in musical performance.
Legacy Series
The Legacy series capitalizes on Thieaudio’s proprietary Nano-Membrane Dynamic Driver to create a high-performance hybrid in-ear monitor. Geared towards the discerning audiophile and music enthusiast, the Legacy series re-envisions the qualities that make up high-fidelity audio to present a unique combination of enjoyable tuning that also excels in technical performance. With each model of our Legacy Series, we hope to reveal a refreshing new perspective on your daily listening experience, immersing you deeper into the music.
Legacy 4
The Legacy 4 was designed concurrently with the Legacy 5 to provide a unique twist to the lineup. With the beloved budget model, the Legacy 3, and the natural and smooth sound signature of the Legacy 5 in mind, we wanted the Legacy 4 to be a middle ground - both in terms of the tuning and price. Utilizing a completely new in-house 8mm poly-membrane dynamic driver for the low end, the Legacy 4 provides the impactful slam of the Legacy 3 and 5, but with a faster speed and enhanced texture. This new driver, matched with the tried and tested American Knowles ED29689 balanced armature (BA) and intuitive low-mid passive crossover design emphasizes a natural mid-frequency presentation. With a less aggressive crossover design than the Legacy 5, the mids of the Legacy 4 presents a more musical experience that ever so slightly adds a dash of warmth to the overall signature. With the partnership of Bellsing, we have developed a custom dual BA tweeter for the Legacy 4 that perfectly fits the mid BA driver. From the relaxed and smooth treble delivery of the Legacy 5, we have tuned the Legacy 4 to bring more upper treble presence, highlighting upper frequency overtones and details. This tuning and the extremely capable treble extension of our new tweeters brings an even greater level of airiness and shimmer to the mix, making the Legacy 4 an excellent IEM for both professional musicians and music enthusiasts alike. You can trust that the Legacy 4 will provide one of the most natural, accurate, and enjoyable musical experiences among any IEM’s of its class.
Tuning Switch
The Legacy 4 crossover network is integrated into a 2-switch tuning system that allows the user to define the level of bass and mids. This tuning system means you can find the perfect sound signature no matter your musical preference!
A Completely Redesigned Look
Our team has worked hard to completely update our look! Paired with an OCC 4-core custom cable, you’ll find the Legacy 4 in an all new beautiful storage and travel case.
Hand Crafted, Test for Quality Assurance
Each Legacy 4 unit is hand crafted, from the medical-grade German resin, to the internal circuitry, all the way to the painting of the faceplate. You can rest assured that your Legacy 4 is both a one of a kind in design and in line with all of our quality check protocols. Every pair is individually tested for left-right channel matching and inspected for defects prior to packaging and shipment. At Thieaudio, quality always comes first.
