Stenheim alumine two.five
Alumine Two.Five Simply iconic.
The all-new Alumine Two.Five is the exciting latest addition to the Alumine range. It is the first floorstander in the line-up and slots between the bookshelf Alumine Two and the floorstanding Alumine Three.
The iconic Alumine Two changed speaker design and redefined what was possible from a bookshelf speaker. It achieved this by combining elements that have served as the basis for every Stenheim speaker since: aluminium cabinets, highly efficient drivers and sophisticated crossovers that are designed to be as unobtrusive as possible. The Alumine Two achieves its astonishing musicality partly by virtue of being a two-way design, the crossover only having to deal with two drivers, the tweeter and the bass. In audio, simplicity is the holy grail but extremely difficult to achieve.
Now the Alumine Two.Five takes these same design concepts and applies them to a floorstanding cabinet for greater internal volume and bass extension. The design is still a two-way, eschewing the compromises that may result from a more complicated crossover required to handle multiple different drivers. The purity and simplicity that created the success of the Alumine Two is maintained, but the double bass drivers ensure room-filling sound in larger spaces whilst giving greater extension in the low frequencies.
The easily driven Alumine Two.Five is suitable for a wide range of high-quality amplification and is the ideal partner for even modestly powered systems, such as tube amps, to deliver enthralling music with typical Stenheim clarity, detail and liveliness. It is hand-assembled in our manufacture in Switzerland with quintessential Swiss attention to detail and quality and is designed to perform for decades.
The classically elegant, slim cabinet makes it a beautiful addition to any listening space or living room, complementing any décor, without seeking to be the centre of attention. That is the role performed by the sublime music it produces the moment you hit play.
The Alumine Two.Five is simply beautiful, however you look at it or listen to it.

Stenheim's alumine two.five delivers a startlingly natural, singing midrange up front that reveals texture and emotion, underpinned by surprisingly deep bass and a broad, precise soundstage. Reviewers from hi-fi+ and HomeTheaterHifi praise its build and coherence. Its full-aluminium cabinet and 93dB sensitivity make it both robust and easy to drive.
Pros
- Exceptionally detailed, natural midrange and vocal presence that brings performers forward with timbral accuracy.
- Surprising low-frequency extension and controlled, tuneful bass for a compact floorstander, giving organ weight and punch.
- Rock-solid, full-aluminium construction and meticulous build quality—heavy, inert panels that minimise coloration and cabinet resonance.
- High sensitivity (93dB) and benign 8Ω load make the speaker easy to drive with both low-power tubes and powerful solid-state amps.

Cons
- Very heavy (≈45 kg / 100 lb per speaker), requiring care, help or specialised stands/platforms for safe placement.
- Premium pricing puts it well above many rivals; excellent value for its class but a significant investment for most buyers.

Bass
95/100
Dual 6.5" woofers in a front-ported enclosure with a 35Hz spec and reviewers repeatedly praising depth and organ weight. HomeTheaterHifi noted "appreciably improved bass response" and organs that "blared with depth and volume," while hi-fi+ cited a 10dB improvement versus the smaller model and solid extension to 35Hz. Excellent low-end authority for a mid-tower design.
Mid
96/100
Multiple reviewers highlighted the midrange as the speaker's strongest attribute: rich, delicate and immediate. HomeTheaterHifi called the midrange "probably where the Two.Five express themselves best," and hi-fi+ praised vocals and instruments as clear, coherent and inviting. Outstanding timbral accuracy and presence.
Treble
94/100
Tweeter performance described as smooth, extended and non‑fatiguing to 30kHz with no added aluminium-induced brightness. Reviewers reported no emphasis in the highs and praised lack of coloration, yielding refined detail and air without harshness.
Soundstage Imaging
95/100
Both reviews praised exceptional imaging and depth: the speakers 'disappeared' and created an intimate, well-defined space. hi-fi+ described remarkable depth and precise placement of performers; HomeTheaterHifi referenced a "wall of sound" imaging that is sublimely fulfilling.
Dynamics
94/100
Reviewers noted clean, dynamic performance with low distortion and controlled driver motion. HomeTheaterHifi observed minimal cone excursion (implying lower distortion) and both reviews reported the Two.Five 'never flinched' and delivered convincing macro- and micro-dynamics.

Build Quality
96/100
Full aluminium construction, very heavy and solidly executed; reviewers emphasized the high-end build and finish. Reviewers noted robust cabinetry, quality crossover components and included floor spikes/discs for optimized placement—indicative of premium industrial design and engineering.
Features Connectivity
80/100
Passive tower baseline applied. Reviews cite a simple, high-quality crossover, 93dB sensitivity and ease of drive (10W minimum), plus included floor spikes/discs; no DSP or electronics expected for this passive design.
Value for Money
85/100
Expensive (~$24,900) but reviewers described the speakers as delivering commensurate quality: hi-fi+ called them 'the single best pair... regardless of price' and HomeTheaterHifi called them 'affordable' only in Stenheim terms. Strong performance justifies premium pricing for buyers seeking top-tier craftsmanship and sound.
