The LS series is the number one choice for larger rooms and spaces with rows of elevated seats. The series features an innovative line source approach incorporating floor-to-ceiling stackable speakers and boundary woofers. This allows sound to propagate over long distances, thus ensuring tonal consistency by reducing reflections from ceiling and floor, especially in large rooms. Line source technology means that every seat in the listening space has close to the same volume level and offers the same sound experience, from the front to the rear of the room.

Stackable speakers

The LS center module is a dedicated center speaker with identical radiation left and right. The modules are stackable and a minimum of four modules must be used. Each module has 3” x 5 ½” midrange drivers and 2 x AMT tweeters.

The best solution for even sound across the room: Line Source

The LS Model is a very tall and slim speaker, for a reason: It is a line source with several tweeters and midrange drivers arranged as a tall vertical line. This gives a very even and consistent sound radiation into the room, with less sound energy towards the ceiling and floor, and provides a high-efficiency design with similar high volume levels across the room. The result is a more similar sound experience on every seat.

Advanced tweeter line array

The LS speakers use the company’s own Air Motion Transformer tweeters in a line array, achieving a completely clear, distortion-free performance even at the highest volume levels. The Air Motion Transformer comprises of an ultra-thin, folded Kapton diaphragm between extremely powerful neodymium magnets. Compared to conventional soft dome tweeters, this provides a much larger yet also much lighter diaphragm area to reproduce the highest frequencies effortlessly.

Scalable for the most demanding home cinema installations

The LS speaker is modular. Depending on room size, room length, room width, seat layout, speaker position and screen size, up to six LS modules can be stacked to create the perfect home theater, providing excellent dynamics and a uniform sound field across the room. Different versions ensure the best horizontal sound dispersion: Left and Right models with angled tweeters for beaming the sound inwards towards the listening area, and Center model for a wider and symmetrical sound beaming.

Integrated system approach

All Steinway & Sons products can be combined for individual Steinway & Sons sound systems and follow our integrated system approach. The chosen loudspeakers are programmed into the processor, and amplifiers are connected reliably using our own digital signal connection. RoomPerfect™ will further acoustically calibrate the loudspeakers to the room. With this integrated system approach, we can guarantee the legacy of absolute perfection that comes with the Steinway & Sons partnership. A perfection which can never be attained mixing products “off the shelf” from different manufacturers.
