Sonos Portable Set
Sonos Portable Set — Roam
The Sonos Portable Set, represented here by the Roam, pairs rugged portability with a surprisingly big, musical voice. Designed for outdoor life, it carries an IP67 water-resistance rating, Qi wireless charging and roughly 10-hour battery life, making it as comfortable on a picnic as it is in a multiroom Sonos system.
Sonos’ tuning favours a warm, bass- and mid-forward presentation: confident low-end weight, forward vocals and a forgiving treble that keeps things relaxed outdoors. Review scores echo that balance (Bass 90, Mid 89, Treble 88, Soundstage 87, Dynamics 86), underlining punchy bass, clear midrange and an impressively wide soundstage for a pocketable speaker. Connectivity is comprehensive — Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth and AirPlay 2 — and the Sonos app/Trueplay integration adds useful room tuning and multiroom flexibility.
For listeners who prioritise musical impact, durability and ecosystem convenience, the Portable Set is an excellent choice. It leans toward musicality over clinical detail, which makes it a crowd-pleasing portable rather than a reference monitor.

Pros
Truly portable and rugged with IP67 rating, Qi charging and solid battery life—built for outdoor use.
Warm, full-bodied sound with strong bass and forward mids that deliver clear, engaging vocals.
Rich feature set and ecosystem integration (Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, AirPlay 2, Sonos app and Trueplay) for versatile use.
Surprising punch and volume for its size—able to fill a room or garden without obvious distortion.
Cons
Detail and high‑end clarity lag behind the very best portable speakers—trades some resolution for a warmer balance.
Bluetooth playback sounds a bit less firm and detailed compared with Wi‑Fi streaming.
