SJY Audio Horizon Closed Carbon

Bass is repeatedly described as exceptionally deep, punchy and textured, with strong sub-bass rumble that remains clean under demanding material. Joshua Valour praises its power, clarity and lack of bleed, while Amplify Audio calls its fast, impactful planar-style bass among the best available.

The midrange is widely praised for natural timbre, realistic voices and a well-balanced sense of body. Reviewers hear convincing male and female vocals without thinness, sibilance or distracting coloration.

Reviewers find the treble detailed, extended and notably free of harshness or fatigue. There is some reported roll-off in the highest air frequencies, however, giving it a slightly warm, less sparkling top end.

The Horizon Closed Carbon is consistently characterized as highly clear, fast and resolving. Reviewers highlight clean separation, strong microdetail and an absence of enclosure reflections or echo that can cloud closed-back designs.

Its stage is considered unusually spacious and continuous for a closed-back headphone, with one reviewer comparing it favorably to a mid-level open-back design. Imaging receives particular praise for pinpoint placement, convincing depth and holographic separation.

Reviewers report powerful macro impact alongside impressive small-scale shifts in intensity. Bass punch, transient speed and a lively sense of swing keep the presentation engaging without sacrificing control.

Despite its 590g specification, reviewers generally report no hotspots or meaningful comfort problems, including during longer listening. It is not especially light, and one reviewer would prefer slightly firmer clamp, but the fit is broadly described as purposeful and manageable.

Reviewers describe the headphone as well made from quality materials, with an ambitious, distinctive carbon-fiber-accented construction. Direct long-term durability commentary is limited, though the unconventional briefcase-like form has grown on at least one reviewer in daily use.

The flush-mounted 3.5mm cable sockets accept a wide selection of aftermarket cables, and the supplied cable is a balanced 4.4mm design. It is a demanding headphone electrically, however, and reviewers stress that it needs a powerful amplifier to perform properly.

At roughly $999, reviewers repeatedly consider the Horizon Closed Carbon unusually compelling among closed-back planars. It is called the best-tuned closed-back at its price by one reviewer, while others say it punches far above its class and is worth the asking price.
