SJY Audio Horizon

The Horizon is described as having a fairly linear response from the lowest bass through the upper-bass range, avoiding the sense of excessive coloration. Reviewers also call it punchy and visceral, indicating convincing impact alongside control.

Vocals and midrange instruments are described as fluid, smooth and surprisingly well defined. The presentation is somewhat thicker through the midrange, favouring richness and body over a lean, highly incisive balance.

Treble is reported to be crisp and clean without becoming bright or artificially enhanced. This suggests a refined, easy-going top end, although the supplied review does not portray it as especially airy or sparkling.

Detail retrieval is a repeatedly praised strength, with the closed-carbon Horizon called extremely capable in this respect. It reveals substantial information, clarity and vocal definition without forcing detail forward through an aggressive tonal balance.

The closed-carbon review calls the soundstage immense and expansive, an especially notable result for a closed design. Another review describes the Horizon presentation as more intimate than some open backs, but still praises excellent separation and a coherent image that wraps naturally around the listener.

The supplied listening impressions particularly praise the bass for being punchy despite its linear tuning. Reviewers say less about large-scale dynamic swings outside the low end, but the reported visceral bass response supports a lively and engaging presentation.

The headband design is described as practical, sturdy and comfortable. There is no detailed discussion of long-session heat, clamp or cup space, but the available listening impressions are positive about wearability.

Reviewers find the construction sturdy, but note that it lacks the polish and premium finish of products from larger manufacturers. It looks and feels fairly basic rather than luxurious, while still appearing competently made.

Useful practical touches include an excellent magnetic pad-mounting system and dual 3.5 mm headphone entries. The supplied 4.4 mm cable is considered solid and fully serviceable, though not a particularly special accessory.

At roughly $999 to $1,049, the Horizon sits among serious audiophile competitors. One reviewer cautions that listeners familiar with similarly priced headphones may initially find it underwhelming, which makes the asking price harder to justify despite its later-growing appeal and strong technical qualities.
