psb Speakers M4U 8 MKII - Wireless ANC Headphones

Bass is repeatedly praised as deep, powerful and well controlled rather than bloated. Reviewers describe it as rich, resonant, detailed and punchy, with notably good low-bass extension and less boom than competing headphones.

Vocals and instruments are generally described as clear, present and natural, with little coloration. One reviewer heard some thickness around the upper-bass/lower-midrange transition, while another felt vocals do not strongly push forward in the mix.

The treble is commonly praised for shimmer, openness and air without persistent grain or shrillness. There are meaningful caveats: the uncalibrated presentation can be slightly soft, some recordings can sound strident, and ANC can add glare or emphasize sibilance.

Reviewers hear strong low-level detail, from string texture and finger sounds to layered instruments in dense recordings. Personal calibration was also said to make individual instruments and vocal expression easier to distinguish.

Several reviewers highlight a large, open and airy presentation with well-separated performers. Spatial scale is described as impressive for the category, while imaging remains coherent rather than artificially exaggerated.

Kick drums are reported to have useful weight and punch, and the headphones can sound lively after calibration. However, What Hi-Fi finds them somewhat plodding beside the sector leaders, while SoundStage Solo heard bass thinning and cymbals hardening at a demanding orchestral peak.

The soft pads and full ear coverage can support lengthy listening, with one reviewer comfortably wearing them for two to four hours without heat or sweat. Fit is more sensitive than ideal, however: the clamp needs careful adjustment, and another reviewer found the slim pads uncomfortable after around 45 minutes.

What Hi-Fi describes the construction as solid, using mostly premium plastics with chrome accents, and feels it is appropriately made for the price. The reviews provide little direct evidence on long-term durability, hinges or wear-component replacement.

Dedicated physical buttons are praised as simpler and more intuitive than swipe controls, while the app provides straightforward personal sound calibration. Noise cancelling is competent rather than class-leading, and one reviewer notes average low-frequency reduction plus audible high-frequency hiss.

At its $399 list price, reviewers position it as a premium wireless ANC option, though What Hi-Fi notes frequent lower street pricing. Audiophilia is emphatic at $279, calling it the best-sounding wireless headphone at that price and saying it is hard to beat, particularly when its wired capability is included.
