What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 50/100
The supplied review material does not assess the Stream Box S2's own analogue output or listening performance. Both excerpts concern the differently named Stream Box S2 Ultra network bridge, so they cannot establish a sound-quality verdict for this model.
Tonal Balance Musicality
50/100
The reviews provide no listening comments on the Stream Box S2's tonal balance, timbre, musicality, or long-term ease of listening. The available material instead addresses the S2 Ultra, a separate product.
Resolution Detail
50/100
Reviewers offer no evidence about detail retrieval, imaging, separation, or low-level resolution from the Stream Box S2. No conclusions can be drawn from the supplied S2 Ultra coverage.
Digital Performance
50/100
Hi-Fi News describes the S2 Ultra as a transcoding and signal-conditioning device whose benefits must be judged through a separate player or DAC. That observation does not evaluate the Stream Box S2's own conversion or digital-output performance.
FEATURES USABILITY PERFORMANCE 50/100
The specifications indicate broad network-streaming support and app control, but the supplied reviews do not assess setup, stability, or everyday operation of the Stream Box S2. The only feature commentary concerns format transparency on the distinct S2 Ultra.
Streaming Software
50/100
The Stream Box S2 is specified to use the Pro-Ject Stream S2 app and to support services including TIDAL, Spotify, TuneIn, and iHeartRadio. Reviewers do not report on the app's responsiveness, reliability, library handling, or setup experience.
Features Connectivity
50/100
The product specification lists Ethernet and Wi-Fi networking, USB storage input, line input, fixed RCA and variable 3.5mm outputs, plus optical digital output. Hi-Fi News calls the S2 Ultra format-transparent when network bandwidth is sufficient, but this cannot be treated as a finding about the Stream Box S2.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
50/100
The supplied reviews contain no comments on the Stream Box S2's enclosure, fit and finish, power supply, or long-term reliability. Its compact dimensions and low weight are specifications rather than evidence of physical quality.
Value for Money
85/100
No price is supplied, and none of the available excerpts discusses the Stream Box S2's value against competing network players. The reviews therefore provide no basis for a stronger claim about whether its asking price is especially compelling or difficult to justify.

Manufacturer's Description — Pro-ject Audio Systems - USA
Miniature multiroom streamer
Stream Box S2: tiny, compact and advanced
Today‘s market is getting overcrowded with lots of wireless streamers. Most of them are only focused on a good App, but the real sound quality is determined by the quality of the DAC and the analogue audio output stage. Also, from an esthetical viewpoint, many of the streamers are just plastic boxes and no amp or other components are in it. In recent times Pro-Ject has been producing the some of the best micro high-end amps on the market, like the Maia S2 or the Stereo Box S2. For these products we developed a fitting streamer, which matches the sound quality and aesthetics of These amplifiers. It is very easy to use per App and has all features of modern-day streamers , including proper multiroom functionality! It offers support for high resolution data up to 24bit / 192kHz, as well as the possibility to connect to multiple Stream Box S2 Multi to form a multiroom setup. The multiroom stream quality remains on CD quality (16 Bit/ 44.1 kHz) which, for multiroom applications, is an enormous amount of data and great audio quality. The possible zones are limited to 10 or 6 zones (Ethernet or WiFi) to ensure a flawless transmission considering the high data rates. Usually multiroom devices which offer a high number of zones are data reduced to max. MP3 quality to ensure a flawless stream. Moreover, two units can also be connected to build a stereo pair (with assigned left and Right channel). If you have active speakers you can create wireless speakers, by placing the Stream Box S2 right next to them. You can then freely place the speakers in your room and do not need to worry about long cable lines anymore. This allows you for greater flexibility, when you want to set up a bigger lobby or event room with great sounding Background music
Three different outputs guarantee a flexible solution for every audio chain. A line level RCA output can be connected to a pre-amplifier for purest signal, a dedicated variable output can be connected to active speakers or power amplifiers. The optical output can further pass a digital signal to an external DAC. The Stream Box S2 comes fully equipped with TIDAL and Spotify. With the implementation of Shairport we were even able to give iDevice users out there another possibility to send data to the Stream Box S2. Friends of internet radio will find satisfaction in TuneIn.
