PMC prophecy5

Both reviews are emphatic about the low end: Sound Advice hears prodigious extension and control from a very slim enclosure, while The Ear calls the bass phenomenal with suitable material. The Ear also finds it fast and clean, with reduced blur and overhang helping timing and rhythmic drive.

Sound Advice praises realistic voices and instruments, alongside rich, well-weighted piano and clear instrumental textures. The Ear similarly finds the speaker exceptionally clean, coherent and revealing, with a notably linear overall response.

Reviewers describe a crisp yet relaxed and clean overall balance, and Sound Advice notes that piano keystrokes remain crisp and clear. The Ear reports that even forceful brass does not grate, suggesting a refined top end rather than one that trades detail for hardness.

Imaging is a major strength. Sound Advice hears a solid, three-dimensional image that extends well beyond the cabinets, while The Ear highlights unusually extensive information outside the speaker boundaries and vocals projected into the room with three-dimensional transparency.

Sound Advice found the speaker comfortable at high levels, with a seemingly limitless dynamic envelope and no impression of strain. The Ear likewise praises its immediacy, precise starts and stops, and ability to sound as crisp, relaxed or dynamic as the recording requires.

The prophecy5 uses a substantial aluminium Laminair X plinth, decoupled cabinet construction and supplied stainless-steel spikes with protective shoes. Reviewers also note thoughtful details including the controlled-dispersion waveguide and more sustainable double-walled, plastic-reduced packaging.

At £4,575 per pair, Sound Advice calls the prophecy5 remarkable for the money and a substantial advance over both the Prodigy range and the Twenty5 23i it replaces. The Ear also found that a modest 50W Rega Brio could drive it successfully except at very high volumes, supporting its appeal in systems that do not require extravagant amplification.
