Pros
Exceptionally smooth, non-fatiguing sound retains crisp transients and treble detail without harsh edges.
Dark background, sharply defined instrument separation, cleaner decays and stronger bass weight improve spatial and rhythmic clarity.
Rock-solid passive chassis and consistently reliable Roon operation after quick setup.
Cons
Roon-only operation excludes Tidal Connect and requires a separate Roon subscription.
Startup detection takes about a minute, and the front status light offers only a subtle on/standby distinction.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 93/100
The Scion was reported to bring a notably smooth, clean and highly resolved presentation without dulling transients or softening detail. The review particularly praises its darker background, stronger image separation, more assured timing and fuller bass weight, while describing its tonal balance as neutral with a gentle warmth.
Overall Sound
95/100
The reviewer describes a striking reduction in harshness and glare, with crisp attacks, clean decays and no sense that the treble has been rolled off. Instrument separation was called a major highlight, while the improved rhythmic definition, bass presence and slight warmth made the system more engaging and pleasant.
Digital Signal Integrity
90/100
In-system listening suggested a quieter digital presentation, as the reviewer heard a darker background from which fine detail emerged more easily. Sharper attacks, cleaner decays and improved spatial separation further point to controlled, stable digital delivery, although the review offers little direct technical discussion of clocking or isolation.
FEATURES USABILITY PERFORMANCE 86/100
The Scion is designed around a focused Roon-based experience rather than broad service support. Setup was said to take less than a minute and operation proved consistently reliable, but buyers need to be comfortable with Roon and its separate subscription cost.
Streaming Software
86/100
The Scion requires Roon and does not support Tidal Connect, limiting it for listeners who prefer a service-native control path. Within that ecosystem, the reviewer found the Roon interface intuitive after a small learning curve, with quick setup and rock-solid reliability once connected.
Features Connectivity
85/100
USB and S/PDIF digital outputs provide sensible DAC connection options, while SMB networking and Roon Ready status support network-library and streaming use. The reported feature set is purposeful rather than unusually expansive, with no mention of additional digital outputs, storage or clock connections.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
89/100
The chassis is described as rock solid, and the fully passive, no-moving-parts design avoids fan noise during quiet listening. The review does not provide detail on internal construction, component selection or long-term durability.
Value for Money
85/100
At roughly $20,000 to $24,000, the Scion is positioned firmly in the high-end streamer market. The review highlights its sonic gains and reliable operation, but does not directly compare its value with rivals; prospective owners should also include the required Roon subscription in the total cost.

Manufacturer's Description — Pink Faun
Pink Faun Scion - The youngest member of our family
With the Pink Faun Scion we introduce a refined music server/streamer to our product family, delivering Pink Faun’s renowned musical performance in a more compact and accessible form. Designed with precision and an uncompromising approach to both musicality and usability, the Scion is a modern solution for those who demand exceptional performance, and an elegant design suited to blend in in any environment.
Innovative Power Supply Design
At the core of the Scion’s performance is its advanced power supply system, a hallmark of Pink Faun’s engineering philosophy. Instead of adapting technology from our flagship 2.16 Ultra music server/streamer, we developed an entirely new power supply specifically for the Scion. This ensures optimal synergy between the power delivery and the unit’s internal components.
To further enhance its performance, the Scion is equipped with a secondary, high-transient, low-noise supercapacitor-based power supply. This dual-regulated supply powers the two digital outputs independently, ensuring the cleanest and most stable signals to your DAC. Every detail in the design has been considered to maintain fidelity and preserve the musicality that Pink Faun products are known for.
Tailored Software for Precision and Simplicity
The Scion is powered by Pink Faun OS, our proprietary operating system, developed and written in-house to provide an optimized, seamless listening experience. The decision to build Pink Faun OS from the ground up stems from our commitment to ensuring the software matches the technical sophistication of the hardware. Tailored specifically for the Scion, the software enhances usability, reliability, and musical performance.
With Pink Faun OS, the Scion offers the perfect platform for Roon*. With its streamlined interface and responsive operation, Roon enables effortless control of your digital library while the Scion maintains the pristine sound quality demanded by discerning audiophiles.
Comprehensive Digital Connectivity
The Pink Faun Scion features a range of digital outputs, all meticulously engineered to meet the highest standards of performance. Each output operates on its own dedicated power rail from the low-noise supercapacitor power supply.
USB Output: Powered by the AS-media ASM3142 chipset, the USB output incorporates upgraded clock circuitry, low-noise regulators, and a high-retention USB connector for a secure and reliable connection to your DAC.
SPDIF Output: Includes both a coaxial RCA connection and an AES/EBU output, with dedicated clock circuitry and low-noise regulation to ensure a clean and stable digital audio stream, free from jitter and interference.
These versatile options provide flexibility in pairing the Scion with a wide range of DA-converters.
Customizable Storage Options
The Pink Faun Scion offers three storage configurations to suit your needs:
Standard 1TB
Expanded 4TB
Expandable to max 8TB
Whether you require space for a modest library or a vast collection of high-resolution audio files, the Scion provides the scalability to grow with your musical archive.
Timeless Design Meets Cutting-Edge Performance
The Pink Faun Scion embodies a balance of elegance, technical innovation, and user-centric design. Its compact form factor and engineering make it a versatile addition to any luxury audio setup, capable of delivering an immersive and authentic listening experience.
