Big‑System Sound, Smaller Footprint

Drop the A52+ into your system and the whole room wakes up. Voices lock center‑stage, bass tightens without bloat, and big moments hit with the kind of weight that turns movie night into a grin‑inducing event—no rack overhaul required.

Designed by John Curl, the A52+ runs high‑bias Class A/AB in a direct‑coupled topology for effortless clarity. It delivers 180 W x5 into 8 Ω (255 W x5 into 4 Ω) with a custom 1.5 kVA toroidal transformer (independent secondary windings per channel) and 100,000 µF of reserve for clean current on demand. Full power is rated down to 5 Hz, and integration is simple: five XLR + five RCA inputs, plus 12 V trigger or audio‑sense auto‑on for any AVR/processor with pre‑outs.

Praised by audiophiles and reviewers alike:

  • Delivers clear, dynamic sound and has plenty of headroom to handle the explosive effects in movie soundtracks.” — Sound & Vision (Al Griffin).
  • Overall, I really liked Parasound’s Halo A 52+ in every way.” — Stereophile (Kalman Rubinson).

Parasound HALO A52+ 5-Channel Power Amp

Parasound's HALO A52+ 5-Channel Power Amp pairs room-filling authority with refined midband detail. Reviewers led by Dwayne Carter -- Enjoy the Music.com praised its transparency, tight low end and ability to drive hard-to-drive speakers. Sonically the A52+ delivers authoritative, well-controlled bass, a sweet midrange that clarifies dialog and vocals, and energetic treble with a slight lift. Its strengths—exceptional dynamics, headroom and coherent soundstage—are supported by specs (180W ×5, 45 A peak, damping >1100). Built in a heavy, well-finished chassis with balanced XLRs and gold-plated terminals, it's at home in multi-channel theater rigs and two-channel systems. Audiophilepure also highlighted muscular drum presentation with MartinLogan speakers. For listeners who want a powerful, neutral multi-channel amplifier with outstanding value, the A52+ is a compelling choice.

Enjoy The Music

"Parasound's impressive A52+ is truly faithful to music."

Pros

  • Authoritative dynamics and headroom — delivers stable, unflappable power into difficult speakers and maintains control at high volumes.
  • Refined midrange and dialog clarity — improves vocal presence and on-screen speech, making it excellent for movies and vocal-centric music.
  • Robust build, connectivity and value — solid 55 lb chassis, balanced XLRs, gold-plated terminals and high power per channel offer strong engineering and bang for the buck.

&

Cons

  • Slight treble sensitivity — some listeners noted a mild high-frequency lift that can read as brightness on certain recordings.
  • Upright-bass attack can be a touch softened compared with top reference amplifiers, affecting percussive snap on certain acoustic recordings.

Sound Quality

Dynamics

93/100

The A52+ demonstrates strong headroom and current delivery for its class: reviewers report it "never gave ground" driving MartinLogan Summits and praised its control and immediacy on percussion. Technical specs back this up (180 W/chan all‑five driven at 8 Ω; 45 A peak per channel; dynamic headroom >1.5 dB; damping factor >1100), which supports the impression of authoritative, unflappable bass and speaker control. Given its Class A/B high‑bias topology and the positive reviewer comments about driving difficult loads, the amp earns an excellent dynamics score for its power tier.

Soundstage Imaging

88/100

Multiple reviewers report good instrument separation, natural presentation and convincing depth — "wonderful depth and space" and "you could almost feel the recording room." That said, one reviewer noted imaging was "a little muddy at times," so while scale and depth are strong the amp is not completely transparent in every system/track. Overall it preserves and often enhances spatial cues, with occasional slight smearing under some program material.

Build Quality

90/100

Physical and engineering quality are robust: a 55 lb chassis, heavy‑duty 24k gold‑plated 5‑way speaker terminals, balanced XLR inputs with discrete circuits, and a high‑bias Class A/AB direct‑coupled topology. Reviewers called fit and finish "clean and tight," and the spec sheet (high damping factor, large current capacity) implies a substantial power supply and solid thermal design. It’s not a monoblock design, but construction and component choices are high quality for its segment.

Value for Money

93/100

Reviewers explicitly call the A52+ an "excellent value" at the stated review price of $2,995, noting that you get 180 W × 5 (8 Ω) / 255 W × 5 (4 Ω) and the ability to drive demanding speakers like MartinLogans. Compared with integrated receivers and some single‑channel reference amps, reviewers felt it delivered more accuracy and authority for the money. (Note: the product data shows a different price range entry; the value assessment follows reviewers' cited $2,995 price and their positive value conclusions.)
