Pros
Exceptionally clear, detailed, and spacious sound with vivid imaging and strong vocal presence.
Useful touchscreen, front-panel volume control, balanced XLR/RCA outputs, and a capable headphone stage make it highly versatile.
Low-noise, well-executed streaming and DAC performance helps it sound refined and controlled rather than digital or edgy.
Despite its premium positioning, reviewers still describe it as strong value for a serious just-add-speakers system.
Cons
Feature set is intentionally sparse, with no built-in Wi-Fi and fewer connections than full-service streamers.
Some listeners found the presentation slightly warm or rounded, with a touch less incisive imaging and attack than certain rivals.
Lower-octave weight can depend on system matching, especially if you want the fullest bass balance.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 92/100
Reviewers consistently describe the PecanPi+ Premium as exceptionally clear, focused, and revealing, with vocals that sound vivid and very real. Several comments also point to a slightly warmer, more rounded balance than some rivals, though one review notes a bit of recessed midrange/treble on a compressed file and another mentions slightly rounded attack transients.
Tonal Balance Musicality
90/100
The overall character is described as musical, pure, and engaging, with one reviewer calling the presentation "a shade warmer" and another saying it sounded "a bit more rounded." There are some caveats about slightly recessed midrange/treble on compressed material and a little harshness on cymbals, but the general impression is natural and enjoyable rather than clinical.
Resolution Detail
95/100
This is one of the player’s standout strengths in the reviews. Writers repeatedly mention "extreme clarity," "lots of detail," "a clear window," and the ability to hear deep into recordings, with fine vocal articulation and small sonic gestures coming through easily.
Digital Performance
92/100
Reviewers praise a very quiet background, strong separation, and a presentation that sounds clean and controlled. The only meaningful caveats are a little softness on attack transients and occasional slight nebulousness in imaging, but the digital presentation is still described as highly refined and low-noise.
FEATURES USABILITY PERFORMANCE 86/100
Usability looks practical rather than feature-heavy. Reviewers mention control from phone, tablet, or computer, a front-panel volume knob, a headphone output, and Ethernet networking, but also note the absence of built-in Wi-Fi and describe the product as deliberately no-frills.
Streaming Software
85/100
The reviews say it can be controlled wirelessly from a phone, tablet, or computer, but they do not really discuss app quality, setup ease, library management, or software stability. What comes through is basic control convenience rather than a standout software experience.
Features Connectivity
89/100
Connectivity is useful in practice, with Ethernet, a front-panel headphone jack, and volume control that can also be handled from a mobile device. Reviewers also note the lack of built-in Wi-Fi and the product’s intentionally lean feature set, so it is flexible in some key ways but not overloaded with options.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
84/100
The reviews suggest a solid, well-made unit with a metal cabinet, touch screen, and high-quality internal audio circuitry. One reviewer did note a bit of electro-mechanical resonance from the streamer that was reduced with isolation pads, so the commentary is positive but not entirely free of reservations.
Value for Money
88/100
Reviewers think the PecanPi+ Premium is priced on the premium side, but they also say it offers unusual performance for the money and call it a solid value in a serious just-add-speakers system. The value case is strongest when judged against bare-bones network streamers and DAC/streamer alternatives that do not seem to deliver the same level of performance.

The Reviewers Are Raving About the Orchard Audio PecanPi+Streamer Premium
The audiophile press is raving about the Orchard Audio PecanPi+ Streamer Premium. Here’s what they have to say…
Greg Handy – Future Audiophile (September 2025)
"The Orchard Audio PecanPi+ Premium offers true high-end audio for the devoted audio enthusiast at a real-world price… the PecanPi+ Premium can be likened to a cult winery: small, without a typical distribution path, with limited awareness among mainstream consumers, yet yielding decadent results. With Orchard Audio, you must be “in the know” of one of audio’s best-kept secrets (you know now), and that is just pure fun. With its updated yet offbeat appearance, the PecanPi+ Premium is sure to spark interest among friends and family when they see it… Collectively, if these attributes are not a reason to care about the Orchard Audio PecanPi+, I don’t know what would be."
Ric Mancuso – Enjoy the Music (January 2025)
"…when it comes down to enjoying the music with the highest level of entertainment experience, look no further than the PecanPi+ Streamer Premium."
Matt Bonaccio – SoundStage Hi-Fi (October 2024)
"Orchard Audio embraces a philosophy and a build that prioritizes performance over comfort and convenience. This is a proven paradigm, one that has certainly served Lotus well. In fact, I’m sure that the same sort of people who appreciate the focused design of a Lotus hypercar would also appreciate the focused design of the PecanPi+ Streamer Premium (that is, when they’re not busy chasing down Porsches and Ferraris). I’m sure many others will too."
