What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 86/100
The 105 SILVA is widely described as a warm, smooth and musical open-back with clean bass, natural-to-lush mids, and a spacious but intimate presentation. Its principal compromises are modest ultimate bass slam, less-than-class-leading detail retrieval, and a treble that can sound shimmery, metallic or fatiguing on demanding material.
Bass
89/100
Several reviewers praise bass that is tight, textured, controlled and free of bloat, while MajorHiFi calls its depth and slam unusually strong for the price. There is disagreement over ultimate low-end authority: ecoustics, Joshua Valour and WaveTheory find it leaner or less physical than rivals, and WaveTheory reports distortion on an especially deep bass passage.
Midrange
87/100
The midrange earns frequent praise for its warmth, texture, clarity and natural vocal presentation; WaveTheory considers the mid and treble tonality exceptional near this price. However, ecoustics hears a 1–2 kHz dip that can pull female vocals slightly back, while the relaxed voicing will not suit listeners wanting especially forward presence.
Treble
82/100
Reviewers often find the top end smooth, clear and airy rather than generally harsh, with Home Theater Review praising its detail without sibilance. Still, multiple reviews identify a caveat: ecoustics hears glare and metallic cymbal sheen, while Joshua Valour and The Headphone Show note extra upper-treble shimmer that may trouble treble-sensitive listeners.
Resolution Detail
86/100
Headfonics, ecoustics and Passion for Sound all find the SILVA clear, engaging and notably more resolving than the 99 Classics, with good separation and focus. It is voiced for musical ease over forensic analysis, though, and Joshua Valour and Amplify Audio Reviews both stop short of calling its detail exceptional for the class.
Soundstage Imaging
87/100
The open presentation is consistently praised for useful width, layering and stable placement, with Home Theater Review calling the imaging precise and Passion for Sound finding the stage genuinely spacious. MajorHiFi and WaveTheory note that image localization and separation are not the most holographic available, so this is more an enveloping, coherent stage than a huge or hyper-analytical one.
Dynamics
84/100
Its pacing and punch are generally satisfying: ecoustics calls the rhythm snappy, and several reviewers describe controlled, tactile bass impact. WaveTheory finds the mid and treble dynamics less emphatic and wants more bass impact, particularly when music becomes dense or demanding.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Comfort Fit
93/100
Comfort is a standout. Reviewers repeatedly praise the soft, breathable velour pads, roomy cups, gentle clamp and self-adjusting suspension system, with multiple reports of easy hours-long sessions. At 354 g it is not ultralight on paper, but ecoustics specifically says the weight effectively disappears once worn.
Build Quality
93/100
The walnut cup frames, spring-steel structure and PVD-coated zinc hardware receive unusually strong praise for solidity, finish and distinctive design. Reviewers consistently characterize the headphone as refined, robust and carefully crafted, although the supplied cable is described more as perfectly serviceable than luxurious.
Features Usability
90/100
The dual 3.5 mm inputs make cable replacement and alternative cable choices practical, while its sensitivity makes it easy to use from portable sources as well as desktop gear. Meze also includes a USB-C DAC/amp adapter that reviewers found simple and effective, though Home Theater Review notes that a better source can further tighten the sound.
Value for Money
87/100
At $499, several reviewers see a compelling package of comfort, industrial design, build and enjoyable sound; ecoustics argues that competing sub-$600 open backs do not match its design, comfort and construction. The value case is not unanimous, however: The Headphone Show feels its acoustics do not fully compete with some cheaper alternatives, while others frame it as a strong all-rounder rather than an outright bargain.

Manufacturer's Description — Meze Audio
FUN AND DETAILED
Tuned with a keen balance between musicality and refinement, 105 SILVA delivers a sound that is clear, rich, and effortlessly engaging. Transients are fast and articulate, bringing out intricate details with a natural sense of ease. The treble extends gracefully, smooth yet revealing, while the bass remains tight and well-controlled, never overpowering but always present when needed.
SIMPLY TIMELESS
Rooted in the Mid-Century Modern movement, 105 SILVA’s design follows the core principles of clean shapes, functionality, and durability, while seamlessly integrating natural and modern materials in its construction. Fusing vintage charm with contemporary aesthetics, the radial grille sublimely intertwines with the walnut wood to form the ear cups, creating a feel that never truly ages. The spring steel headband and the PVD-coated cast zinc alloy hardware link everything into an extremely sturdy, yet highly flexible structure.
DRIVER DESIGN
In order to achieve a headphone voicing fit for audiophiles and music lovers alike, we went through countless 50 mm driver iterations, different materials, and tuning methods. The outcome is bound to satisfy all sides, on a very wide range of musical genres.
W-SHAPED DOME
Made of a carbon fiber-reinforced cellulose composite, the dome can reproduce high frequencies with incredible detail, clarity, and definition. More durable than conventional alternatives used in dynamic drivers, yet lightweight, this composite helps reduce resonances that may lead to harmonic distortion.
TITANIUM-COATED TORUS
The torus surrounding the dome is composed of titanium-coated semicrystalline polymer, designed to optimize stiffness, speed, and tonal balance. The titanium coating, applied through Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), reinforces the membrane’s structure while keeping it lightweight, ensuring a fast transient response and pleasantly textured bass.
The torus features precisely positioned grooves at a 45.5° angle, effectively controlling resonances and enabling the driver to reproduce sound with accuracy and fluidity.
STABILIZED
The copper-zinc alloy stabilizer, positioned around the membrane, improves the absorption of vibrations to further reduce distortion.
VIBRANT CONTRAST
105 SILVA offers a smooth blend of clarity and richness. Through a combination of perfected tuning methods and carefully selected materials, it distills the essence of what makes music so divine – virtuosic finesse paired with raw, unrestrained fun.
ALL-DAY LISTENING
Enjoy your music for hours on end due to our trademark ergonomic build philosophy – the self-adjusting PU leather headband spreads the weight out to deliver even pressure for any head shape and size.
SOFT EAR PADS
Velour cushions comfortably surround the ears, providing the optimal seal to create natural sound. Since velour is far softer and more breathable than leather, it prevents sweat and overheating during lengthy listening sessions.
ACCESSORIZED
The 105 SILVA comes with a new 1.8 m (5.9 ft) OFC cable, featuring a dual-twisted, Kevlar-wrapped main run, soft PVC-coated left and right wires, and anthracite aluminum housings. Built for durability, flexibility, and a tangle-free experience. Alongside it, a custom 3.5 mm to USB-C adapter with an integrated DAC/AMP expands usability with mobile devices, while maintaining high-resolution playback on the go.
WHERE MUSIC TAKES ROOT
105 SILVA draws you into a soundscape that feels alive and organic. Every detail, from its sophisticated design to its finely tuned acoustics, works harmoniously to create a resonating cohesive experience. Like a forest teeming with life, music breathes here, it unfolds, and welcomes you with every note.
SUSTAINABLE THROUGH LONGEVITY
As our choices of today can greatly impact the world of tomorrow, we design products that last. We believe that a longer product lifespan means a smaller footprint. Following this philosophy, 105 SILVA can be taken apart and serviced endlessly if needed, making itas perennial as the forests it alludes to.
“With the 105 SILVA, we took what we learned from the 109 PRO and the 105 AER, giving it sound characteristics from both: richness and genre versatility combined with clarity and detail. However, it is not merely a combination of both, as we’ve introduced a more expressive midrange presentation for enhanced vocal presence and a more natural-sounding representation of acoustic stringed instruments.”
