What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 89/100
Reviewers consistently describe the Ellipse as unusually accomplished for a compact all-in-one speaker. It sounds refined, detailed, and cohesive, with strong room-filling ability and a convincing sense of scale when positioned well.
Bass
83/100
The reviews suggest bass that is tidy and extended enough for the format, with Meridian's racetrack driver helping it reach down respectably. At the same time, one reviewer calls the bass limited, so it is not a speaker for big, weighty low-end expectations.
Mid
92/100
The midrange is a clear strength, with vocals and instruments described as beautifully resolved, tonally coherent, and highly present. Reviewers repeatedly praise the way it handles piano, voice, and dense mixes without losing composure or natural flow.
Treble
88/100
High frequencies come across as refined and detailed rather than edgy, with good clarity on acoustic guitar, piano, and complex material. The reviews do not suggest obvious brightness or harshness, and the overall presentation is described as smooth and listenable.
Soundstage Imaging
94/100
This is one of the Ellipse's standout talents. Reviewers praise its ability to sound bigger than its size, throw credible stereo images even off to the side, and create a three-dimensional presentation that can seem detached from the box itself.
Dynamics
90/100
Despite modest power on paper, the Ellipse is said to play loudly, keep its composure, and handle orchestral weight and rock passages with ease. Reviewers note that it stays controlled at levels most listeners will ever use, which is impressive for a speaker this compact.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
90/100
Reviewers praise the Ellipse as fastidiously made, with a very nicely implemented top control panel and a sense that real care has gone into the product. The styling is described as subtle rather than flashy, but the construction itself appears well thought through.
Value for Money
80/100
The asking price is clearly a concern in both reviews, with comments that it is expensive and faces strong alternatives at lower prices. That said, both reviewers also acknowledge that the sound goes a long way toward justifying the cost, so the value case is mixed rather than poor.
