Audiophile direct drive turntable incl. pickup
A MODERN MASTERPIECE FOR TRUE VINYL ENTHUSIASTS
Rediscover your record collection with the MTT 990, a high-end direct drive turntable for discerning audio purists. Equipped with a quartz-controlled motor, a resonance-optimized MDF chassis and a precise 25.4 cm tonearm, it ensures clear, dynamic reproduction with minimal distortion. Equipped ex works with the proven Audio-Technica AT 95E pickup and designed for three playback speeds (33 1/3, 45, 78 rpm), the MTT 990 combines timeless analog sound with modern technology.
The quartz-controlled direct drive motor guarantees perfect speed stability and prevents slippage as well as the long-term wear that can occur with belt drives. With a torque of 2.2 kgf·cm and wow and flutter of less than 0.08%, the MTT 990 delivers powerful dynamics and absolutely precise speed. This not only ensures an impressive sound, but also high reliability and easy operation for many years. Thanks to the three playback speeds, the turntable is suitable for LPs, singles and 78 rpm shellac records.
The 10-inch J-shaped tonearm is made of a specially alloyed aluminum tube, offering high rigidity with minimal resonance. The internal wiring from Mogami (Japan) and carbon steel bearing balls ensure extremely smooth and precise movement.
Thanks to the height-adjustable tonearm base and the SME-compatible headshell, the tonearm is easy to upgrade and compatible with a variety of MM and MC pickups. The tried-and-tested Audio-Technica AT 95E, which is known for its balanced, detailed sound, is already pre-assembled – ready to play straight out of the box.
Built on a solid MDF foundation, the MTT 990's chassis is consistently designed to reduce vibration and mechanical noise. Height-adjustable, decoupling feet and a floating mains transformer additionally isolate the drive from unwanted resonances.
The 30.5 cm platter, made of high-density polymer (POM), has similar properties to vinyl itself, enabling particularly natural, low-distortion reproduction. A felt mat is included, but the platter is also optimized for direct use without a mat. The overall package is rounded off by a sophisticated piano black finish and a removable dust cover, which is included as standard.
OUR TECHNOLOGIES
PRECISE DIRECT DRIVE SYSTEM – DEVELOPED FOR AUDIOPHILE PERFORMANCE
The Magnat MTT 990 is equipped with a quartz-controlled direct drive system that has been developed for maximum precision and reliability. The heart of the drive is a high-torque motor that guarantees stable platter rotation and a fast start – for audiophile sound quality at all playback speeds.
The MTT 990 is designed to be particularly user-friendly, offers one-touch operation and supports speeds of 33 1/3, 45 and 78 rpm. This makes it compatible with a wide range of records – from classic LPs to rare shellac records. Thanks to the quartz control, the drive system keeps the speed extremely precise and minimizes wow and flutter, which guarantees clean, even reproduction.
With a standby power consumption of less than 0.5 watts, the MTT 990 is also energy-efficient. The switchable power supply (115 / 230 VAC, 50/60 Hz) ensures worldwide usability and makes it the ideal choice for audiophiles around the globe.
HIGH-PRECISION 10″ J-SHAPED TONE ARM FOR OPTIMAL SCANNING PERFORMANCE
The Magnat MTT 990 is equipped with a robust 10-inch J-shaped tonearm made of specially alloyed aluminum, which combines high rigidity with low weight. It is ideally designed for pickups with medium to medium-high dynamic needle compliance and guarantees precise scanning with minimal distortion. The SME-compatible headshell enables easy pickup replacement or later upgrades.
Durable stainless steel tonearm bearings in combination with carbon steel bearing balls ensure silky smooth, low-friction movement and thus improved sound fidelity. A mechanically decoupled counterweight reduces unwanted vibrations, while the height-adjustable tonearm base allows precise adjustment for almost any pickup.
The hydraulically damped tonearm lift prevents abrupt lowering and thus protects the stylus and record. Inside, the tonearm is wired with high-quality Mogami cables from Japan, which guarantee excellent signal transmission. Gold-plated cinch outputs and a separate ground terminal round off the design and ensure a clean, interference-free audio connection.
PRECISE POLYMER PLATTER FOR AUDIOPHILE PERFORMANCE
At the heart of this high-end direct drive turntable is a heavy, full-size platter made from a precision-turned, highly compressed special polymer. This high-quality material minimizes vibrations and ensures extremely stable rotation – the basis for true high-fidelity sound.
With its standard diameter of 12 inches (305 mm), the platter is suitable for all record formats – without any adapters. Records can be placed directly on the platter for a pure, unadulterated sound or alternatively with the included felt mat, which further reduces resonances and static charge.
Whether newly discovered classics or current pressings – the platter design of the Magnat MTT 990 brings out the full sound potential of your vinyl collection.
SOLID, STYLISH AND RESONANCE-REDUCING
The Magnat MTT 990 turntable is based on a solid MDF (medium-density fiberboard) housing that ensures excellent stability and effective resonance damping – the ideal basis for outstanding sound quality. The robust chassis minimizes unwanted vibrations and enables faithful reproduction of your records.
The high-quality high-gloss paint not only gives the turntable an elegant look, but also protects the housing from scratches. Height-adjustable, decoupling feet reliably isolate the turntable from environmental vibrations and ensure perfect alignment on almost any surface.
For added comfort and protection, an acrylic dust cover is available that can be optionally installed – it keeps the turntable clean without impairing the elegant design.
