A high-end design loudspeaker from Lyngdorf Audio

While digital amplifiers are the DNA of Lyngdorf Audio, loudspeakers are part of the company since its foundation. The Cue-100 is another milestone in Lyngdorf Audio’s speaker history. This high-end audio loudspeaker merges modern Danish design with the latest and best speaker technology. Designed and made at Lyngdorf Audio in Skive, Denmark, the Cue-100 is the perfect loudspeaker for audiophile enthusiasts as well as design-conscious music lovers.

Benchmark-setting Purifi USHINDI technology

Purifi from Denmark has set new benchmarks in speaker technology by creating ultra-low-distortion long-stroke USHINDI woofers. Purifi achieves the market’s lowest distortion, highest sound purity, and overall best measured performance. Several innovative technologies were developed to achieve this result. The most recognizable is the Neutral Surround Geometry, where the ring shape consists of alternating mountain ridges. The result of such ultra-low-distortion: Outstanding sound purity and a detail resolution never heard before. The Cue-100 uses Purifi USHINDI drivers equipped with a deep anodized aluminum cone for the most open and detailed music reproduction. Lyngdorf Audio’s Air Motion Transformer extends this level of sound performance to the highest frequencies.

Advanced acoustic design and solid wood base

The unique triangle shape consists of three tapered and slightly rounded sides machined from 35mm thick, CNC-machined MDF. This design reduces resonance and internal standing waves, while giving the speaker a slender appearance when viewed from the listening angle. The base is machined from solid oak or MDF and increases the rigidity further. With four different cabinet combinations and five different optional fabric covers made by Gabriel from Denmark, the Cue-100 is customizable in 24 different color combinations.

The perfect match for any room shape or size

When using the Cue-100 together with a Lyngdorf TDAI amplifier or MP multichannel processor, the company’s own RoomPerfect™ technology acoustically adapts the Cue-100 to the room, always achieving the best possible sound performance in a given room. RoomPerfect™ also allows an unusually high degree of freedom when placing the speakers in the room, meeting the highest demands in interieur design as well as high-end-audio.

Overall Score 90/100

Rating for [object Object]

Deliciously Crispy

Despite a compact footprint, the Cue-100 delivers deep, controlled low end and airy, revealing highs from its Air Motion Transformer tweeter, creating an immersive, cinematic soundstage praised by The Ear and Best of High End. Reviewers note the Purifi-driven midband's clarity and low distortion, a rare blend of musicality and resolution.

The Ear

"The conjuring trick of making these large and imposing devices seem to disappear is really quite astonishing, and the music that remains is vivid, lifelike and quite addictive."

Pros

  • Deep, well-controlled bass extension (claimed to 35Hz) that behaves like a full-range speaker for its size, giving weight and musicality without boom.
  • Purifi-driven midrange shows exceptional clarity and very low distortion, delivering lifelike vocals and instrument texture.
  • AMT tweeter provides airy, detailed highs with speed and refinement, adding palpable air and definition to cymbals and vocals.
  • High-quality Scandinavian build and configurable finishes (oak, lacquer, fabric sleeves) that earned design recognition and feel premium in craftsmanship.

&

Cons

  • Very high price point that places these among premium, specialist purchases rather than mainstream options.
  • Low nominal sensitivity (83 dB) and 4 Ω nominal impedance mean they benefit from substantial, well-matched amplification.
  • Large footprint, substantial weight once fitted to stands, and bottom-mounted binding posts can complicate installation and cable routing.

Sound Quality

91/100

Bass

91/100

Dual 6.5" woofers with two 6.5" passive radiators and a claimed response to 35Hz deliver deep, controlled low end. Reviewers repeatedly call the bass 'deep', 'terrific heft' and note 35Hz is conservative; for its size the Cue-100s behave like full-range speakers. Passive-radiator design and multiple reviewer comments about weight and tightness support a high score.

Mid

92/100

Mids are praised for clarity, lack of grain and lifelike presence: 'Dialogue was crystal clear', 'voice is without grain' and 'studio monitor like' appear across reviews. Instruments and vocals are described as precise, natural and well-bodied, indicating excellent timbral accuracy and presence.

Treble

91/100

The AMT tweeter is repeatedly lauded for airiness and speed ('rare degree of airiness', 'one of the best tweeter designs'), delivering extended, refined highs without reported harshness. Reviewers note abundant detail and openness, supporting a very high treble score.

Soundstage Imaging

92/100

Multiple reviews describe an unusually wide, deep and precise soundstage ('wider than the room', 'painted in the air', 'cinematic'), with excellent image focus and layering. The speakers' ability to 'disappear' and present convincing spatial cues is emphasized repeatedly.

Dynamics

91/100

Dynamics are described as swift and powerful with very low distortion ('absolutely minimal distortion', 'scales up without any restraint', 'real life dynamics'), and reviewers report convincing micro- and macro-dynamic behavior across genres. The design and driver choices support punch and control for the form factor.

Build Quality

92/100

Build and finish are repeatedly called 'exceptional' and 'solid' with high-quality drivers and MDF/oak cabinetry; weight and craftsmanship are noted as premium. Attention to detail (legs/stand included) and high-end components (Purifi drivers, AMT) underpin the score.

Features Connectivity

81/100

Passive bookshelf baseline applied (single-post passive). Gold-plated binding posts are hidden on the cabinet bottom and accept spades/bananas; included stands count as OEM placement hardware (+1). No DSP/streaming expected or penalized for a passive design.

Value for Money

78/100

Performance is highly praised, but the Cue-100s are expensive (reviewed prices: ~£9,499 each / pair ~£18,998; Best of High End lists ~€20,000), limiting mainstream value. Reviewers signal that sonic performance justifies the price for discerning buyers, but the high cost keeps the value score conservative.
