Legacy Audio Foundation
Legacy Audio Foundation delivers infrasonic reach and gut-shaking slam with the pitch definition to serve serious music as convincingly as blockbuster cinema. What Reviewers Are Saying
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Bass
96/100
The Foundation earned unusually strong praise for both low extension and outright impact. HomeTheaterHifi found it could go "toe-to-toe" with an SVS subwoofer for slam while delivering more apparent very-low-bass response, and described infrasonic output along with bass that remained "in time and in tune" with music.
Integration
89/100
The reviewer calls the Foundation easy to integrate within a system and reports no undue peakiness in its response. Its bass stayed separate from loud action effects rather than smearing into the musical bass, supporting a clean, controlled blend in real use.
Dynamics
96/100
This subwoofer was described as having apparently unlimited output potential in a large room, even with bass-heavy film material. Loud gunfire and explosions remained clean rather than smeared, while the sub also kept pace with demanding music and preserved bass pitch integrity.
Build Quality
91/100
HomeTheaterHifi found the large cabinet notably solid and inert. The review also highlights the substantial motor structures, dual voice coils, high-excursion drivers and powerful amplifier, all consistent with a purpose-built high-output design.
Features Usability
87/100
The Foundation provides practical connection options including stereo RCA, mono RCA/LFE, and balanced XLR, accommodating a broad range of systems. A manual EQ control can boost or attenuate the 35-50 Hz region, though the review does not discuss app-based control, room correction, or automated calibration.
Value for Money
85/100
At roughly $5,000-$6,500, the Foundation sits in a premium subwoofer segment. The review makes a strong case for its performance against an SVS comparison, but does not directly assess whether it is especially competitive with similarly priced alternatives.

DEFINITION BY DESIGN
Implementing compound passive radiator technology and a pair of Legacy’s renown long throw 12″ woofers, Foundation delivers a more forceful attack, rebounding without the usual mechanical shuddering present in subwoofers. Foundation offers exceptional tonality and bass definition previously unattainable at this price level.
Powered by 1000W of internal amplification, the Foundation subwoofer benefits from 30 amps of peak current to provide tight control over its woofers. The result is a subwoofer with exceptional tonality, low distortion, and impressive bass definition, all within a compact footprint. The Foundation is a a top contender for audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts alike.
Foundation utilizes a pair of our ultra long throw 12″ subwoofers with a 3″ dual 4 layer voice coil and a 480oz (30lb) motor structure. The powerful motor structure and dual 3″ voice-coils keep the woofer’s heavy cone well damped electrically.
