What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 95/100
Reviews describe an exceptionally full-range, neutral and highly resolving presentation, with the scale and authority expected of a very large active loudspeaker. Its standout traits are seismic low-frequency reach, effortless output, clean and transparent voicing, and a room-filling soundstage, though careful setup remains important to realizing the best bass and imaging.
Bass
97/100
HomeTheaterHifi measured exceptionally deep, powerful bass that remained solid to 10Hz, calling it the deepest bass it had recorded at the time. In listening, the dual active 12-inch drivers were described as tight, visceral and naturally effortless, while The Absolute Sound also found deep-bass power and accuracy to be exceptional when the speaker is properly adjusted.
Mid
95/100
HomeTheaterHifi found vocals and instruments unusually immediate and transparent despite the speaker's large scale. The Absolute Sound likewise praised the clean, detailed midrange and specifically noted a smooth transition between the AMT section and the 7-inch mid/woofers through demanding music.
Treble
93/100
The Absolute Sound describes the upper range as clean, detailed and neutral, with no notable frequency-response coloration, and found the AMT-to-midwoofer handoff smooth. HomeTheaterHifi heard a cohesive tweeter system with strong lower-treble authority and enough power handling to keep a silky vocal composed at high levels.
Soundstage Imaging
94/100
HomeTheaterHifi heard a massive, intricately detailed stage that created an almost wall-less sense of scale in its room. The Absolute Sound also praised the soundstage, while noting that its ultimate result depends substantially on the room, listening position and setup effort.
Dynamics
96/100
HomeTheaterHifi reports clean 110dB peaks at the listening position without audible distortion, and found the Focus XD able to keep rocking through demanding bass-and-drum material without strain. The Absolute Sound similarly praises its excellent low- and high-level dynamic detail and the serious full-range power of the built-in amplifier.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
93/100
The cabinet is substantial and carefully finished: HomeTheaterHifi found the 1.25-inch MDF construction solid and called the satin rosewood veneer among the finest loudspeaker finishes it had seen. The Absolute Sound also notes reinforced, shaped cabinetry, attractive edge detailing and excellent veneer quality, while the 143-pound speaker conveys its physical seriousness.
Value for Money
95/100
At roughly $15,200 per pair in standard finish, rising to about $17,500-$17,590 with upgraded finishes, reviewers considered the Focus XD unusually compelling against far costlier high-end alternatives. HomeTheaterHifi said its performance suggested a speaker normally expected to cost more than $50,000 per pair and called it a screaming value, while The Absolute Sound called it very good for the money and highly recommended it.

Each tower features 700 watts of super low-distortion amplification, providing significant bi-amplification benefits. The Legacy Focus XD is a truly versatile system, offering multiple configuration options including fully active operation or active bi-amplification with an external amp.
The Focus XD floor standing speakers boast the renowned Legacy Dual AMT system for pristine highs and dual 7″ graphene filled carbon fiber mid-ranges. The dual 12″ ultra-linear woofers deliver unprecedented bass output.
The back panel offers three amplification configurations:
- Active Bass with External Crossover Use the built-in 700W amp to perfectly drive the dual 12″ subwoofers.
