Bi-Wire Capable

Whilst the Titan 505 looks a little different to the rest of the series, it delivers just as much breathtaking design and musicality as its bigger floorstanding counterparts. The Titan 505 is the smaller sister-speaker to the Titan 606 - offering the same musical performance and sonic clarity as its floorstanding sibling - in a more compact, stand-mounted cabinet. The Titan 505 is the ideal place for serious bookshelf loudspeaker enthusiasts to begin listening with Kudos, whilst introducing Titan-quality design and engineering into their system setup.

EXCEPTIONAL, CUSTOM-MADE DRIVERS

The Titan series features drive units crafted exclusively for Kudos by world-leading specialists SEAS. All four Titans share the same superb K3 tweeter, a version of a legendary SEAS unit specially re-engineered to tailor its capabilities for the Titans. The 505’s use a custom 180mm mid-bass unit with a die-cast chassis with large open areas, a coated paper cone and a 39mm voice coil designed for low-distortion, high linearity and low crossover modulation.

All drivers are precisely matched and aligned to work together seamlessly, delivering an effortless ‘just right’ sound. When you hear it, you’ll know it.

LOW-ORDER CROSSOVERS AND MINIMAL DESIGN FOR PURER SOUND

The purer the signal, the truer the sound. A Kudos loudspeaker preserves a clean and clear audio signal by favouring a minimal design with our trademark, low-order crossover. The Titan series’ superior quality components are tailored specifically for Kudos to stringent tolerances. They include Mundorf’s MResist Supreme resistors and air-core inductors, and ClarityCap’s unique CopperConnect technology capacitors.

INTERIOR DESIGN

The best designs are a marriage of form and function. The Titans’ modernist design blends effortlessly into the contemporary home. Concealed within, however, is a highly complex system of differential panel resonance control. While keeping a rigorously tight grip on any and all unwanted vibrations, this smart system gives full and free rein to the natural dynamics of your music.

ISOBARIC WITH FIXED BOUNDARY LOADING

Bass is key to how we hear music, so our Titan series goes above and beyond in ensuring superior sound at the all-important lower end. The Titan 505’s isobaric and bass reflex loading is cleverly engineered to deliver a more agile, nuanced, textured and detailed bass reproduction.

ACTIVE CONFIGURATION (UPGRADEABLE)

The Titan series is configured for simple bypass of the internal crossover, enabling seamless active operation when partnered with the new Kudos SIGAO DRIVE and virtually any amplifier brand you choose. Active operation opens up a wider upgrade path and unlocks a variety of performance and personalisation-enhancing capabilities.

Overall Score 92/100

Rating for [object Object]

Deliciously Crispy

With unusually muscular low end for a standmount, the Titan 505 pairs isobaric bass power with exquisite imaging and a refined treble. Its room-filling, layered soundstage and tight, tuneful low frequencies deliver impressive clarity, dynamics and coherence — reviewers from Hi-Fi Choice and The Ear praise its composure, making it a standout small-cabinet performer.

HiFi Choice, Hi-Fi Choice

"The Kudos is an absolute master of soundstaging."

Pros

  • Exceptional imaging and expansive, layered soundstage with precise lateral width and depth.
  • Authoritative, well-controlled bass for a standmount thanks to the isobaric 2x180mm loading, delivering tuneful, multi-layered low end.
  • Detailed, non-fatiguing treble with a seamless handover from mid/bass to the SEAS-Kudos tweeter, preserving cymbal and string detail.
  • Robust, well-damped HDF cabinetry and quality components (custom SEAS drivers, thoughtful bracing) that reduce coloration.

&

Cons

  • Bass openness ultimately limited by the compact cabinet compared with larger floorstanders—excellent for size but not a replacement for very large systems.
  • Can sound a little bright on-axis for some systems; benefits noticeably from toe-in and careful placement.

Sound Quality

93/100

Weighted average of sub-criteria below.

Bass

93/100

Reviewers repeatedly credit the isobaric 2x180mm loading with exceptional low‑end heft and definition for a standmount, delivering multi‑layered basslines that are tuneful and well controlled. HiFi Choice calls the low end 'truly first class' and The Ear explicitly notes the isobaric loading gives extra 'girth'; a small number of comments flag the speaker's physical size as a limiting factor in ultimate openness, so the score reflects excellent bass performance for its size.

Mid

93/100

Midrange is consistently praised for timing, clarity and natural timbre: reviewers mention spot‑on timing, intelligibility (vocals clearly rendered) and an even tonal balance that avoids highlighting any region. The result is engaging, coherent presentation across voices and instruments.

Treble

92/100

Treble is described as detailed and refined with a seamless handover from mid/bass to the SEAS‑Kudos 29mm tweeter; cymbals and string detail are crisp without hardness. One reviewer noted on‑axis brightness that is easily mitigated by toe‑in, hence a very strong but not absolutely neutral top end.

Soundstage Imaging

94/100

Both reviews laud imaging and soundstaging — focus, depth and a broad lateral width are repeatedly praised ('jaw dropping' focus; 'master of soundstaging'). The speakers paint a vivid, three‑dimensional picture with stable images and good layering, making them stand out in this area.

Dynamics

92/100

Dynamics are a strong suit: the 505s remain composed and punchy across levels and scale well when driven harder. Reviewers note they 'soak up power' and open up with higher drive, producing wide micro/macro dynamic contrasts appropriate to the speaker's intent.

Build Quality

93/100

Heavy, well‑braced HDF cabinetry with variable panel thickness and 'resonance control pads' is explicitly referenced; the speakers pass a knuckle‑rap test and use custom SEAS drivers with quality parts. Matching stands are high quality and visually/structurally complementary.

Features Connectivity

80/100

Passive single‑wire binding post baseline applied (4mm banana only noted). Reviews mention jumpers and active‑drive compatibility with Linn/Naim/Devialet/Exposure, but physical connector configuration remains single‑wire; no bi‑wire posts or DSP/app streaming to score. Passive baseline of 80 used.

Value for Money

88/100

Price cited in reviews is about £7,000 per pair (£7,750 with matching stands); reviewers praise the combination of technologies and performance and encourage auditioning at that price, implying strong competitiveness in the premium standmount segment. Language in the reviews suggests very good value for what is delivered but stops short of superlative bargain claims, so the score reflects 'good value implied' versus direct 'steal' language.
