KLH Audio Model Three Bookshelf Speaker
Compact yet commanding, the Model Three pairs tight, textured bass with a huge soundstage that reaches far beyond its cabinets. StereoNET’s Mark Gusew found its sealed-box delivery taut, rhythmic and richly engaging, while the adjustable Acoustic Balance Control lets listeners fine-tune its articulate upper range. A characterful standmount with genuine full-scale presence.

Pros
Clean, punchy and highly textured bass gives this compact sealed speaker unusually substantial low-end authority.
Expansive imaging and excellent off-axis performance help the speakers disappear into a large, immersive stereo stage.
Acoustic Balance Control provides useful treble fine-tuning for room acoustics and listener preference.
Cons
The slightly elevated upper-midrange and treble may require adjustment for listeners seeking a more relaxed balance.
Its claimed 35Hz low-frequency reach is specified at -10dB, making that deepest-extension figure less meaningful in practice.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 91/100
Reviewers find the Model Three unusually full-scale and entertaining for a compact sealed standmount, combining tight, textured bass with a large, disappearing soundstage. Its presentation is balanced and articulate, with lively upper-mid and treble energy that can be tailored using the Acoustic Balance Control.
Bass
91/100
Bass is described as clean, tight and punchy, with notably chewy texture and resolution. Although the quoted 35Hz extension is measured at -10dB, the reviewer still found its low-end performance impressive for its modest sealed enclosure.
Mid
90/100
The overall tonal balance is said to be good, with a slightly highlighted upper-midrange that brings articulation and definition. Piano, organ and snare are reported to have convincing presence and illumination.
Treble
89/100
Treble has welcome bite and definition without becoming overblown or harsh, particularly on brass instruments. The upper range is somewhat prominent, but the three-position Acoustic Balance Control offers useful fine-tuning for room and taste.
Soundstage Imaging
93/100
The Model Three projects a huge image that reaches well beyond the cabinets and belies its physical size. The reviewer also reports that the speakers disappear effectively, aided by excellent off-axis performance.
Dynamics
91/100
Music is described as taut, rhythmic and controlled, with an engaging sense of speed, impact and texture. This combination reportedly helps the speaker communicate the emotional momentum of performances.

Build Quality
85/100
The available review details a purpose-built woofer with a rigid die-cast aluminium frame, flat-wire voice coil, flux-stabilising ring and substantial motor system intended to control distortion at high excursion. It also notes robust five-way binding posts and included powder-coated steel risers, though there is little direct commentary on cabinet finish or long-term durability.
Value for Money
85/100
The supplied product price is 1,598, while the review lists £1,838. The reviewer does not directly compare the Model Three with price rivals or offer a clear verdict on whether it represents especially strong or weak value.
