Focal Sopra N°2
Focal Sopra N°2 turns scale into explosive transient speed, pairing taut, hard-hitting bass with pinpoint imaging and refined beryllium treble. SoundStage Solo admired its vocal focus and composure through dense orchestration, while The Ear found a neutral, low-distortion balance. This is a beautifully built high-end floorstander with genuinely physical dynamics.

What Reviewers Are Saying
SOUND QUALITY PERFORMANCE 95/100
The Sopra N°2 is consistently described as an exceptionally fast, revealing and energetic floorstander, combining powerful low frequencies with unusually precise imaging. Its main sonic qualification is a slightly restrained midrange presentation noted by HIFI.DE, which can soften vocal realism relative to the very best rivals, though other reviewers found voices and instruments highly convincing.
Bass
96/100
Reviewers repeatedly praise deep, taut and exceptionally quick bass from the twin 7-inch woofers. SoundStage Solo heard substantial grip, clean power and impressive low-frequency reach for the speaker's size, while HIFI.DE found the bass dry, hard-hitting and highly controlled, if fractionally behind the Canton Reference 2 for ultimate control.
Mid
91/100
There is strong praise for textured vocals, a full-bodied piano and precise vocal focus, with SoundStage Solo calling vocals sublime and HiFi Turtle finding the midrange richly detailed. HIFI.DE, however, found the midrange somewhat held back, reducing the last degree of vocal immediacy and realism compared with some price rivals.
Treble
94/100
The beryllium tweeter is widely heard as detailed, refined and quick rather than aggressively bright. The Ear specifically says earlier Focal treble brightness is now far behind the brand, while HiFi Turtle praised a rich, textured top end that remains free of fatigue.
Soundstage Imaging
96/100
Imaging is one of the Sopra N°2's defining strengths. Reviewers describe exceptionally sharp image placement, little bleed between performers, clearly separated orchestral lines and an open, enveloping stage; HIFI.DE adds that it needs sufficient room to fully achieve this effect.
Dynamics
97/100
The Sopra N°2 earns unusually emphatic praise for speed, impact and composure under dynamic stress. SoundStage Solo found its handling of abrupt starts, stops and large-scale swings extraordinary, with no congestion in busy passages, while HIFI.DE also reported that level jumps posed no difficulty.
Assessments of Build Quality, Usability, and Overall Propositions.
Build Quality
95/100
Reviewers find the Sopra N°2 exceptionally well executed, from its complex cabinet engineering to its immaculate fit and finish. HIFI.DE found no workmanship flaws and highlighted the precision of the panel gaps, while SoundStage Solo praised the design, finish and applied technology.
Value for Money
93/100
At roughly €16,000 to €18,000 per pair in Europe and about $19,000 per pair in the US, the Sopra N°2 remains a costly proposition. Even so, SoundStage Solo considered it not at all expensive by high-end standards, and HiFi Turtle regarded it as exceptionally difficult to beat against competing loudspeakers around $20,000.

Manufacturer's Description — Focal
3-way floor-standing speaker
Sopra N°2 combines a number of key advantages: compactness, hi-fi sound and purity of design. Like the other top-of-the-range Sopra loudspeakers, it approaches the performance of Utopia loudspeakers, Focal's excellence. Its timeless finish adds a touch of sophistication. Perfect for living rooms of up to 30m², it is equally at home in larger rooms of up to 70m².
A concentrate of unrivalled technologies
Equipped with the best midrange ever developed by Focal, with NIC and TMD technologies, Sopra N°2 pushes back the limits of reproduction in terms of sound transparency in a loudspeaker with very contained volume.
Perfect acoustic convergence
The architecture of the loudspeaker is articulated around the intermediate piece. Injected with polyurethane, this element allows the top and bottom cabinets to be tilted for "Focus Time", ensuring perfect acoustic convergence of the channels at the listening point.
Excellence in detail
The deliberately visible decoupling tips were designed for Sopra and manufactured by watchmaking specialists. The Beryllium tweeter is protected by a grille with a lattice pattern. The same pattern is repeated on the back plate of the midrange.
